Beyblade Gets New Manga Based on TV Personalities

Manga artist Chihiro Gokitsune announced plans on Twitter last Friday to launch a new Beyblade manga titled Beyblade Soul Taku & Shō. The gag manga series will premiere June issue of Shogakukan's Coro Coro Ichiban! magazine, which ships on Friday. The protagonists of the series, Taku and Shō, are based a pair of real-life "bladers" who appear at tournaments and on Beyblade segments of Sho-Pro and TV Tokyo's "OhaSta" morning variety program.
Gokitsune previously worked on the Kamiwaza Wanda manga, which launched in the Coro Coro Ichiban! magazine in March 2016. Shogakukan will publish the final compiled volume on April 28.
Takara Tomy's Beyblade line of toys inspired a manga series in 2000-2003, and Viz Media released the 14-volume series in North America in 2004-2006. The manga inspired three television anime series (Beyblade, Beyblade: V-Force, and Beyblade G Revolution) between 2001-2003, and the Beyblade the Movie: Fierce Battle film in 2002. The spinoff manga, Metal Fight Beyblade, has inspired the Beyblade: Metal Fusion, Beyblade: Metal Masters, Beyblade: Metal Fury, and Beyblade: Shogun Steel television anime series, as well as the Metal Fight Beyblade VS Taiyō Shakunetsu no Shinryakusha film. The ongoing Beyblade Burst manga launched in July 2015.
The Beyblade Burst anime premiered on television last year, and the sequel, Beyblade Burst God, that is currently airing in Japan. The first series airs on Teletoon in Canada and on Disney XD in America. It is available for streaming online with Daisuki.
