Studio Trigger, A-1 Pictures' DARLING in the FRANKXX Anime Teaser Previews Main Characters

Atsushi Nishigori is directing original sci-fi anime

The official Twitter account for Studio Trigger and A-1 Pictures' original science-fiction television anime DARLING in the FRANKXX began streaming a new commercial on Thursday, introducing the two characters that appear in the teaser visual (below).

The video introduces the two characters as "children without names." Instead, they go by "Code:016" and "Code:002." The video also features new images by character designer Masayoshi Tanaka, and quotations from each character. Code:016's quotations (in blue) read, "What am I doing?," "My whereabouts are nowhere...," "The dying never changes," and "Let me ride!" Code:002's quotations (in red) read, "I am... always alone," "I don't like my own taste," "I'm not afraid of death," and "Are you prepared to die?"

Atsushi Nishigori (The IDOLM@STER, character designer for Gurren Lagann) is directing the series, and Toshifumi Akai (chief animation director for Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic, Sound of the Sky) is assistant director. Nishigori and Naotaka Hayashi (director for Girl Friend BETA, Morita-san wa Mukuchi) are in charge of series composition. Masayoshi Tanaka (anohana: The Flower We Saw That Day, Highschool of the Dead) is designing the characters and is chief animation director. Shigeto Koyama (Michiko & Hatchin, Ancien and the Magic Tablet) is providing the mechanical designs. Hiroyuki Imaishi (director of Gurren Lagann, Kill la Kill) is supervising the action.

Studio Trigger announced the anime at its Anime Expo panel last month. A-1 Pictures' Hiroyuki Shimizu is involved with the project and appeared on stage during the panel.
