Idol Time Pripara 'Holographic' Live Event Adds More Performances, Voice Actress Guests

posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda
1st "holographic" stage event in franchise launched on Friday

The official website for Idol Time PriPara Minna Atsumare Yokopama! Yume Kawa Magical Live, the franchise's first "holographic" stage event, revealed on Friday that the stage event will get additional performances from November 6 to 12. The additional performances will feature appearances by voice actresses Yō Taichi and Yuina Yamada on November 11, and voice actresses Himika Akaneya, Yū Serizawa, and Miyu Kubota on November 12. The voice actresses will have a talk show during the performance.

Performances opened at the DMM VR Theater in Yokohama on Friday. The performances feature appearances by other voice actresses in the Idol Time PriPara anime, as well as a guest appearance by Hatsune Miku.

The DMM VR Theater is a venue that uses "holographic" technology for virtual concerts and other events. The theater uses the same translucent "Pepper's ghost" screens that are used in concerts by Hatsune Miku and other virtual Vocaloid idols. However, the theater uses multiple screens to add depth to its performances.

The theater in Yokohama previously screened a The Glass Mask Year 3 Class D theatrical work starting on July 22. The theater has also screened a benefit concert featuring manga creator Takeshi Konomi alongside several characters from his The Prince of Tennis manga, as well as other events for franchises such as One Piece, Aikatsu Stars!, Aikatsu!, Sword Art Online, Precure, and Street Fighter V.

The Idol Time PriPara anime premiered on April 4.

The story focuses on Yui, a girl who lives in the town of Paparajuku, and who dreams of being an idol, even if she realizes that being an idol is next to impossible for her. Her friends often remark on how much she dreams about it. But then, the PriPara idol theme park opens in her town, and an idol named Laala is coming to town from Parajuku, which only makes Yui dream even bigger. The new PriPara theme park has been updated with new concepts. However, due to a system error, Laala is no longer able to PriPara Change.

The series has the keyword of "yume Kawa," short for "yume kawaii" (dreamy cute), a contemporary real-life fashion look that emphasizes colorful hair and dreamy looks. The protagonist Yui is described as a "yume Kawa" girl. An additional keyword for the series is "time," as the series introduced the new "Idol Time" system.

Makoto Moriwaki (Tantei Opera Milky Holmes, Onegai My Melody) returned from the previous series and is directing the new series at Tatsunoko and Dongwoo A&E.
