Mameneko Cat Manga Gets TV Anime in January

Suzuna Kinoshita, Hitomi Ueda star in adaptation of Nekomaki's manga

Publisher Sakurasha and Musework opened a website on Wednesday to announce that Nekomaki's Mameneko cat manga is getting a television anime adaptation that will premiere in January.

Nekomaki launched the manga in 2013, and Sakurasha published the manga's eighth compiled volume on July 4. The manga follows the daily life of a household that has two cats: Azuki and Daizu. Azuki and Daizu belong to an office worker in her 30s who loves cats. The owner lives with her father, mother, grandfather, and older brother, the latter of whom the cats call "Megane" (Glasses). Megane adopted a Shiba Inu dog named Mamenosuke after Mamenosuke's owner died. Mamenosuke grew up around cats so he actually thinks of himself as a cat.

The anime stars:

Suzuna Kinoshita as Azuki, she looks like an older sister type but she's actually a coward and cautious. She loves maguro tuna.

Hitomi Ueda as Daizu, a male cat who is always following after Azuki.

Satomi Akesaka as Owner, a 30-year-old office worker.

Kōhei Mitoma as Hadairo, the Owner's grandfather. He loves sugared red beans.

Yō Taichi as MOJA, the Owner's mother, and a 62-year-old housewife. She hates cats.

Wataru Katō as Megane, the Owner's 35-year-old brother. He is also an office worker. He is a "herbivore" man who loves bishōjo anime and tokusatsu heroes above all else.

Yuzo Yamamoto (Chō Zenmai Robo Patrush director) is directing, writing, and producing the series at studio Charaction (Boku no Imōto wa "Ōsaka Okan"). Yoshinobu Yamada is the art director, and Ryō Hayakawa is the sound director. Studio Inspire is the recording studio, Studio A-Cat is composing the music, and A Craft and On-Lead are producing the music.
