NisiOisin's Densetsu Series Ends With 10th Volume in March

Series launched with Himeiden novel in 2012, inspired manga

The official Twitter account of writer NisiOisin (Monogatari series, Medaka Box) revealed on December 28 that his Densetsu (Legend) series of novels will end with the 10th volume. The ninth volume, Hikyūden, is slated for February 28, while the 10th volume, Hijūden, is slated for March 28.

In the story of the series' first novel, an event that produced a high-frequency sound known as the "Great Scream" occurred worldwide on October 25, 2012 at 7:32 a.m. The event lasted only 23 seconds, but it slew around 2.3 billion people, about a third of the world's population. Half a year later, a 13-year-old boy named Kū Sorakara goes to the Kisaragi Clinic for a checkup, as it seems he has lost the ability to feel emotion about anything. But after his checkup, a group known as the Earth Destruction Army invites him to the organization. The group tells Kū that they want him to be a hero who will fight the wicked Earth, which is trying to destroy mankind.

The series began with the first novel, Himeiden, in 2012. The eighth novel in the series, Hieiden, shipped in December 2016.

Osamu Mitsutani launched a manga adaptation of Himeiden in Young Magazine the 3rd in December 2015, and ended it in December 2017. Kodansha published the manga's third compiled book volume last June. The manga's fourth and final volume will ship on January 19.
