Fuji-TV, Niantic Reveal Ingress Anime Slated for October

Craftar to animate game based on Niantic's AR app

Fuji TV revealed during a "Plus Ultra - Fuji TV Anime Lineup Presentation 2018" event on Thursday that Niantic (Pokémon GO) and Fuji TV are working on an anime adaptation of Niantic's Ingress augmented reality app. Craftar (The Relative Worlds) is animating the series, which will premiere on the new +Ultra programming block in October 2018.

The +Ultra programming block will premiere in October as a 30-minute block.

Niantic launched Ingress in 2012, and the company revealed an update titled Ingress Prime in December. The new update is slated for this year. Niantic describes the original game:

This world around you is not what it seems. Our future is at stake, and you must choose a side.

A mysterious energy has been unearthed by a team of scientists in Europe. The origin and purpose of this force is unknown, but some researchers believe it is influencing the way we think. We must control it or it will control us.

"The Enlightened" seek to embrace the power that this energy may bestow upon us.

"The Resistance" struggle to defend, and protect what's left of our humanity.

Install Ingress and transform your world.

Which side are you on?

The official Twitter account for the game had teased in December that there would be a "future Ingress anime."

The app has inspired several manga adaptations.
