Persona 5 debuts April 8, Tokyo Ghoul:re on Tuesday

Aniplus-Asia announced through a commercial on Sunday and on its Facebook page on Monday that it will air simulcasts of the PERSONA 5 the Animation television anime series as well as the Tokyo Ghoul:re anime series.

PERSONA 5 the Animation will debut on the channel on April 8 at 2:00 a.m GMT +8.

Masashi Ishihama (From the New World, Kamichu!) is directing PERSONA 5 the Animation, and the game franchise's producer Katsura Hashino is credited with the original story concept. Satomi Ishikawa (Convenience Store Boy Friends) is adapting Shigenori Soejima's original game character designs for animation. Kazuma Kaneko is credited for having drawn the original demon designs from the game. Shinichi Inotsume (Persona 5 the Animation -The Day Breakers-, Hayate the Combat Butler, Sket Dance) is in charge of the series scripts. Shoji Meguro is returning from the game to compose the anime's music. Lyn is performing the opening theme song "Break in to Break Out" and the ending theme song "Infinity."

Aniplex of America describes the story based on Atlus' role-playing game:

Ren Amamiya is about to enter his second year after transferring to Shujin Academy in Tokyo.

Following a particular incident, his Persona awakens, and together with his friends they form the “Phantom Thieves of Hearts” to reform hearts of corrupt adults by stealing the source of their distorted desires.

Meanwhile, bizarre and inexplicable crimes have been popping up one after another...

Living an ordinary high school life in Tokyo during the day, the group maneuvers the metropolitan city as Phantom Thieves after hours.

Let the curtain rise for this grand, picaresque story!

Tokyo Ghoul:re will debut on the channel on Tuesday at 12:00 a.m. GMT +8 (effectively Wednesday morning).

Odahiro Watanabe (Soul Buster, assistant director on Super Lovers 2, Valkyrie Drive: Mermaid) is replacing Shuhei Morita as director for the anime at Pierrot. Pierrot+ is credited for animation production assistance. Chūji Mikasano is returning from the first two Tokyo Ghoul anime to provide series composition and write the scripts. Atsuko Nakajima (Ranma ½, You're Under Arrest, Haven't You Heard? I'm Sakamoto) is replacing Kazuhiro Miwa as character designer. The three-member band Cö shu Nie will perform the opening theme song "asphyxia" for the series. Rock band Ziyoou-vachi will perform the ending theme song "Half."

Viz Media is releasing the Tokyo Ghoul:re manga in North America, and it describes the first volume:

Haise Sasaki has been tasked with teaching Qs Squad how to be outstanding investigators, but his assignment is complicated by the troublesome personalities of his students and his own uncertain grasp of his Ghoul powers. Can he pull them together as a team, or will Qs Squad first assignment be their last?
