Lupin the Third Part 5 TV Anime Reveals 7 More Scriptwriters

posted on by Jennifer Sherman

The official website for Lupin the Third: Part 5, the fifth Lupin III anime series, revealed seven more scriptwriters for the series on Monday.

The newly announced scriptwriters are:

  • Daisuke Sakō (Lupin the Third: Part 5 assistant director)
  • Go Zappa (Beatless, Blend S series composition)
  • Kazushige Nojima (Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts game series scenario writer)
  • Takahiro Okura (Detective Conan: The Crimson Love Letter scriptwriter)
  • Yuniko Ayana (The Seven Deadly Sins -Signs of Holy War-, BanG Dream! series composition)
  • Keiichi Sigsawa (Kino's Journey, Sword Art Online Alternative Gun Gale Online novel author)
  • Shatner Nishida (Yowamushi Pedal stage play series scriptwriter)

Each scriptwriter is contributing their own vision of the character Lupin to highlight the variety in the Lupin the Third franchise over the last 50 years. Ichiro Okouchi (Code Geass, Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress) was previously the only staff member credited with series scripts.

The anime premiered in NTV's AnichU programming block on April 3. Crunchyroll is streaming the series in Japanese with English subtitles as it airs in Japan. The anime is listed with 24 episodes.

Yuichiro Yano returns from the fourth series to direct Lupin the Third Part 5 at Telecom Animation Film with character designer Hisao Yokobori and musical composer Yuji Ohno. Miyuki Sawashiro (Fujiko) is singing the ending theme song "Seine no Kaze ni … (Adieu)."

The new series moves the setting to modern France. While Lupin will still use classic cars and traditional guns like the Walter P38, he will also employ the Internet, mobile devices, and other digital gadgets to take on his foes.
