Cross Infinite World Licenses Dawn of the Mapmaker Light Novel Series

posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda
1st novel in series about girl who practices forbidden cartography launches on July 31

Cross Infinite World announced on Wednesday that it has licensed Akira Nashiki's Dawn of the Mapmaker fantasy light novel series. The company will release the first volume, Dawn of the Mapmaker: The Surveyor Girl and the Forbidden Knowledge, on July 31 on Kindle.

Cross Infinite World describes the story:

In an age where mapmaking is a lost art, Unen hides her skill from the world at large. But when she accepts a local landlord's request to survey the boundary between his land and that of a neighboring lord's, her maps accidentally give away her existence to a master swordsman and a cunning mage—a duo who have been hunting down the man who taught her the forbidden knowledge of mapmaking.

As one of the rare few capable of creating maps with bird's eye precision, Unen's fate hangs precariously in the balance as she endeavors to survive in a world of people who want to own her or see her dead.

Nashiki launched the story on the "Shōsetsuka ni Narō" (Let's Become Novelists) website in 2015, and ended it in 2016. Nashiki is still penning side stories for the novels on the site, and published the latest side story on February 1. MonoKubo illustrates the print novel releases.
