Indonesian film distributor Encore Films announced on Tuesday that it will screen both the Free! The Movie -Timeless Medley- the Promise (Free! -Timeless Medley- Yakusoku) and the Free! -Take Your Marks- anime films on August 10 to 12.

Encore Films previously screened the Free! The Movie -Timeless Medley- the Bond (Free! -Timeless Medley- Kizuna) in Indonesia on April 25.

Free! -Timeless Medley- Kizuna opened in Japan in April 2017, and ranked at #10 in the Japanese box office in its opening weekend. The film is the first of two compilation films for Kyoto Animation and Animation DO's Free! franchise. The second film, Free! -Timeless Medley- Yakusoku (Free! The Movie -Timeless Medley- the Promise), opened in Japan in July 2017 and ranked at #10 in the Japanese box office in its opening weekend.

The Timeless Medley compilation films feature returning cast members from the first television anime series, the Free! Eternal Summer sequel television anime series, and the High Speed! -Free! Starting Days- prequel anime film. In particular, the High Speed! film's Asahi Shiina and Ikuya Kirishima are now third-year students in the Kazami and Shionezaki High School Swim Clubs, respectively.

Free! -Take Your Marks- is a sequel to the Free! -Timeless Medley- compilation films. The story takes place in March, with Haruka dealing with graduation from high school. The film depicts four stories set in the days of early spring, before the characters advance to the next starting blocks of their futures, and what lies ahead. The four stories in the film highlight Haruka looking for an apartment in Tokyo, the Samezuka team, the second-years of the Iwatobi team, and Rin's goodbye party before he goes to Australia.

The Free! franchise is inspiring a new television anime series titled Free! Dive to the Future that premiered on July 11.
