The staff for the television anime of ForwardWorks' Sora to Umi no Aida (The Space Between the Sky and the Sea) smartphone game revealed the theme song artists and new visual for the anime on Wednesday.

Voice actresses Karin Takahashi, Honoka Inoue, and Momoko Suzuki perform the anime's opening theme song "Sora to Umi no Aida" as their respective characters. Konomi Suzuki performs the anime's ending theme song "Ao no Kanata" (Beyond the Blue).

The anime will premiere this October.

The game's voice actresses are reprising their roles for the anime. The cast includes:

Karin Takahashi as Haru Soramachi

Rika Tachibana as Namino Murakami

Honoka Inoue as Rubi Azumi

Momoko Suzuki as Maiko Sakura

Maori Komeno as Makiko Maki

Ai Kōsaka as Makoto Mitsurugi

Atsushi Nigorikawa (Anime De Training! Ex, Love Tyrant) is directing the anime at TMS Entertainment, and Takashi Yamada (Fatal Fury: The Motion Picture, Ashita no Nadja, Danchi Tomoo) is in charge of series composition. Shuuhei YAMAMOTO (Anime De Training! Ex, Battle Girl High School) is drawing the animation character designs based on Kazuyuki Ueda's original designs. Kurō Ishihara is the mechanical designer.

The smartphone game debuted in Japan last September, and later debuted in Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau.

The project is ForwardWorks' first original IP and includes a smartphone game, radio program, manga, television anime, novel, and stage performances. Sakura Wars creator Ouji Hiroi is credited with the original work and is serving as general manager for the project. Bekkourico is drawing the manga titled Sora to Umi no Aida, which debuted in Kadokawa's Monthly Comic Dengeki Daioh magazine last November. Masashi Takimoto wrote the Sora to Umi no Aida Hajimari no Monogatari (The Space Between the Sky and Sea Origin Story) novel that Dengeki Game Bunko published last fall.

The story is set in Onomichi, Hiroshima in the year 20XX. Fish disappear from the sea around the world and only whales live in the ocean. The Ministry of Fishery decides to set up giant experimental Universe Fish Tanks in space. The Onomichi Universe Fishery Union is established and begins to train space fishermen. Female fishermen are in demand due to the strengthening of an equal employment law for men and women. Six new female space fishermen are selected, and the story centers on supporting their growth.

The game has both a story mode and a space fishing mode. The full-voice story mode has both a "Main Story" and "Cadet Stories" of the six girls. In the space fishing mode, players risk their lives to fish for vicious space fish together with a guardian deity.
