Yoru no Unagi-Inu net anime debuts on Wednesday

The official website for Late Night! The Genius Bakabon (Shinya! Tensai Bakabon), the new television anime of Fujio Akatsuka's classic comedy manga Tensai Bakabon, revealed on Wednesday that the show's Unagi-Inu character has a new net anime titled Yoru no Unagi-Inu (Unagi-Inu at Night). The 12-episode net series starring Unagi-Inu (literally, "Squid-Dog") debuted its first episode on Docomo's dTV streaming service and TV Tokyo's AniTele app on Wednesday. Each episode is about two to three minutes long.

The net anime features the same cast as the Late Night! The Genius Bakabon anime.

The Late Night! The Genius Bakabon anime is the franchise's first television anime in 18 years. The original family comedy manga centers on an idiotic boy and his father.

The anime's cast includes:

Toru Hosokawa (Polar Bear's Café script, Baka Mukashi Banashi Gekijōban ~Jijii Wars~ director) is directing the anime and penning the scripts at animation studio Pierrot+, with Takashi Yamamoto (A Dark Rabbit Has Seven Lives, Final Approach, Onigiri) as assistant director. Takaaki Wada (Brave Story, Tokyo Ghoul animation director) is designing the characters. Avex Pictures is producing the music, and Hiromi Kikuta is the sound director.

The anime's main cast members Arata Furuta, Miyu Irino, Noriko Hidaka, and Ai Nonaka will perform the opening theme song "Baka-Bonsoir!" as the unit "B.P.O -Bakabon-no Papa Organization-." Voice cast members Toshiyuki Morikawa, Akira Ishida, and Takahiro Sakurai will feature in an interlude. TECHNOBOYS PULCRAFT GREEN-FUND is writing, composing, and arranging the song. Hip hop group Ketsumeishi (Crayon Shin-chan Bakusui! Yumemi World Dai Totsugeki) will perform the ending theme song "Natsu no Prince / Kaze wa Fuiteiru" (Summer Prince / The Wind Is Blowing).

The anime premiered on July 10. Crunchyroll is streaming the series as it airs in Japan.
