Kaiji Spinoff Manga 1-nichi Gaishutsu-roku Hanchō Gets Anime Adaptation

posted on by Crystalyn Hodgkins
Anime will "hijack" Mr. Tonegawa anime to air on October 9

The official website for the Mr. Tonegawa anime revealed on Friday that 1-nichi Gaishutsuroku Hanchō (One-Day Outing Chronicle Leader), a spinoff manga of Nobuyuki Fukumoto's Kaiji manga, is getting an anime adaptation. Tensei Hagiwara writes the manga's story, and Motomu Uehara and Kazuya Arai draw the art. Fukumoto is collaborating on the manga.

This year's 42nd issue of Kodansha's Weekly Young Magazine on September 15 had teased that a project was in the works for the manga.

The anime will "hijack" the broadcast of the currently airing Mr. Tonegawa anime and will air on October 9 at 25:59 (effectively October 10 at 1:59 a.m.). The anime will feature the same staff as the Mr. Tonegawa anime.

The anime will star:

The artists launched the manga in December 2016, and Kodansha published the manga's fourth volume on August 6. The manga focuses on the character Ōtsuki. The series is set in Tokyo, where Ōtsuki uses a "One-Day Outing Ticket" to leave the forced labor camp for people who have gambling debts. The manga ranked at #8 on this year's Kono Manga ga Sugoi! list of top manga for male readers.

Mr. Tonegawa adapts another Kaiji spinoff manga Chūkan Kanriroku Tonegawa, which focuses on the "agonizing daily life of Teiai Group executive Yukio Tonegawa, who gets into conflicts with Hyōdō and the black suits."

The show premiered on NTV's "AnichU" programming block on July 3, and Crunchyroll is streaming the series with English subtitles as it airs. HIDIVE is streaming an English dub, and Sentai Filmworks has licensed the series. The anime will air for two quarters of a year.

Keiichiro Kawaguchi (Sket Dance, Psychic Squad, Hayate the Combat Butler, Frame Arms Girl) is directing the series at Madhouse. Mitsutaka Hirota (Digimon Adventure tri. film series, The Prince of Tennis II, Anime-Gataris) is handling the series composition, Haruhito Takada (Kaiji, Claymore) is the character designer and chief animation director, and Takahiro Yamada (BONJOUR Sweet Love Patisserie) is composing the music. Kisuke Koizumi is the sound director at Half HP Studio, Harue Ono is the color designer, and Mariko Tsukatsune is editing.
