Saint Seiya: Saintia Shō Anime Adds 4 Cast Members

posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda

The staff for the anime of Chimaki Kuori's Saint Seiya: Saintia Shō manga revealed additional cast members for the anime on Wednesday.

The cast includes (clockwise from upper left) Masakazu Morita as Pegasus Seiya, Keiichi Nanba as Pisces Aphrodite, Yasuyuki Kase as Orion Rigel, and Kenji Nojima as Phonos.

The show premiered on the "SkyPer! Anime Set" channel on Amazon Prime Video in Japan on December 10 at 7:00 p.m. JST. The anime will later premiere on Animax on December 24, and on the dAnimax channel on dTV on January 5. The "Animax on PlayStation" app also premiered the show on December 10, but only the first three episodes will stream on the same schedule as SkyPer! Anime Set.

Crunchyroll is streaming the series as it runs in Japan.

Masato Tamagawa (Nurse Witch Komugi, Aria the Animation, Air Gear episode director) is the series director for the anime at GONZO. Ikuko Takahashi (O-jii-san no Lamp, Asura) is in charge of series composition. Keiichi Ishikawa (Saint Seiya Omega, One Piece: Heart of Gold) and Ayana Nishino (Hitorijime My Hero) are designing the characters. Toshihiko Sahashi (Saint Seiya Omega, Saint Seiya: Soul of Gold) is composing the music. Toei Animation is credited with planning and production.

Seven Seas Entertainment licensed the manga, and it describes the story:

In the wake of a space-wide civil war instigated by Saga–the Gemini Gold Saint–a new team of Saints comes together with the goal of protecting their goddess Athena. This first all-woman team of armored warriors, powered by the Zodiac, will use their cunning, strength, and compassion to defend their worlds and oppose their very destinies.

The manga is set immediately after the main storyline's Sanctuary arc after the defeat of Gemini Saga from Masami Kurumada's original Saint Seiya manga, but before the Posieidon arc. However, whereas the original manga followed a boy named Seiya and other Saints who fight to protect the goddess Athena, the new series follows a female "Saintia" named Shō who fights evil deities to protect Athena.
