Seven Seas Licenses The Cornered Mouse Dreams of Cheese, Ghostly Things Manga, Arifureta Spinoffs

Seven Seas Entertainment announced on Thursday that it has licensed Setona Mizushiro's The Cornered Mouse Dreams of Cheese (Kyūso wa Cheese no Yume o Miru) and The Carp on the Chopping Block Jumps Twice (Sōjo no Koi wa Nido Haneru) manga, Ushio Shirotori's Ghostly Things (Ayashi Koto Gatari) manga, and the Arifureta - From Commonplace to World's Strongest: Zero and Arifureta: I Love Isekai (Arifureta Nichijou de Sekaisaikyou) spinoff manga.

Seven Seas will release The Cornered Mouse Dreams of Cheese on November 5 and its sequel The Carp on the Chopping Block Jumps Twice at a later date. Seven Seas describes the boys-love title for mature readers:

Ootomo Kyoichi, a weak-willed salaryman in a troubled marriage, is cheating on his wife. To his surprise, his wife hires a private eye to expose his affair–and the private eye is none other than Imagase, an underclassman Kyoichi knew in college. Imagase explains that he's gay and always had a crush on Kyoichi, so he offers to hide the infidelity in exchange for the make-out session he'd always fantasized about back in college. Kyoichi reluctantly agrees, thinking it will save his marriage, but things with Imagase soon spiral out of control.

Shogakukan published the first single-volume manga in 2006 under its Judy Comics imprint. (Shogakukan's Judy magazine for adult women serialized from 1983 to 2008.) The sequel shipped in 2009.

Tokyopop released Mizushiro's X-Day manga in 2003, Go! Comi finished releasing her After School Nightmare manga in 2009, JManga published part of her Dousei Ai manga, and Viz Media is releasing her Black Rose Alice manga. Mizushiro's series Un chocolatier de l'amour perdu (Shitsuren Chocolatier) received a live-action drama adaptation in 2014, and her Nōnai Poison Berry manga inspired a live-action film in 2015.

The first volume of Ghostly Things is slated for print and digital release on October 1.

Seven Seas describes the story:

High school student Takahara Yachiho has just moved into a notoriously haunted house on the outskirts of town. With only her cat Fuku-chan for company, Yachiho is disturbed by strange sounds and happenings...until the day she comes across a small passage leading to a hidden lower floor. There she discovers spirits of all shapes and sizes, guided by the tiny supernatural “manager” Moro. If Yachiho is to call this place home, she'll have to deal with its ghostly denizens--and find a mysterious book that may be the key to locating her missing mother.

The manga launched on Mag Garden's Mag Comi website in February 2018. Mag Garden published the first compiled volume on September 14.

The first volume of Arifureta - From Commonplace to World's Strongest: Zero (pictured right) will get a print and digital release on September 10. The first volume of Arifureta: I Love Isekai (pictured left below) will get a print and digital release on December 10.

In Arifureta - From Commonplace to World's Strongest: Zero, which takes place before Hajime was transported to Tortus, the Synergist Oscar Orcus has his own adventure--but not willingly! Oscar is a simple working man, keeping his head down to earn his money and support an orphanage, until Miledi Reisen bursts into his life. She wants Oscar to join her in a quest to defeat the gods. Oscar refuses to chase after that kind of danger...until that kind of danger finds its way to him.

Original creator Ryo Shirakome published the first volume of the Arifureta Zero novel prequel series in December 2017. J-Novel Club has licensed the novel version.

Ataru Kamichi launched the manga adaptation on Overlap's Comic Gardo website in February 2018, and Overlap shipped the second compiled volume on December 25.

Arifureta: I Love Isekai is a four-panel slice-of-life comedy manga. Misaki Mori launched the manga on Comic Gardo in July 2017, and Overlap published the second volume on December 21.

J-Novel Club releases the original Arifureta - From Commonplace to World's Strongest light novel series in English digitally, and Seven Seas has been publishing the volumes in print. Seven Seas began publishing the manga adaptation of the main series in print in English in March.

Shirakome launched the novel series in Japan in June 2015 under the OVERLAP Bunko label, with illustrations by Takayaki, after initially presenting it on the user-submission site Shōsetsuka ni Narō. Artist RoGa launched an ongoing manga adaptation in 2016 on Comic Gardo.

An anime adaptation is slated for this July.
