Anime Central 2019 to Host Singers Asaka, Sayaka Sasaki, TRUE, ZAQ

Anime North to host former Studio Ghibli production desk Hirokatsu Kihara

Staff of Illinois anime convention Anime Central announced on Friday that singers Asaka, Sayaka Sasaki, TRUE, and ZAQ will attend this year's event. They will perform on May 17 in a new showcase concert at the event. Anime Central passes will include admission to the concert. The four singers will also participate in autograph sessions and panels.

Asaka has performed theme songs for anime such as Laid-Back Camp, A Centaur's Life, ISLAND, and Occultic;Nine. Sasaki has performed themes for Garo the Animation, Bakuon!!, Girls und Panzer das Final, and Star Blazers 2199. True has performed songs for Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans, Violet Evergarden, Sound! Euphonium, and WorldEnd. ZAQ has performed theme songs for The Magnificent KOTOBUKI, Trinity Seven, Love, Chunibyo & Other Delusions!, and Food Wars! The Third Plate.

Anime Central 2019 will take place from May 17-19 at the Hyatt Regency O'Hare and Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, Illinois. Kenichi Sonoda will attend the convention for the world premiere of the Bean Bandit episode 0 anime. Kinema Citrus CEO Muneki Ogasawara will appear alongside staff members from the Revue Starlight, Made in Abyss, and The Rising of The Shield Hero anime. Voice actresses Mai Nakahara and Natsumi Takamori will also attend and mark their first appearances at a North American convention. Aya Suzaki will also attend the event.

In addition, staff of Toronto's Anime North convention announced on March 19 that this year's event will host former Studio Ghibli production desk Hirokatsu Kihara.

Kihara has served behind the production desk as coordinator on such Hayao Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli films as My Neighbor Totoro, Laputa: Castle in the Sky, and Kiki's Delivery Service. He also served as production desk or production runner on other anime such as Kanamemo, Nogizaka Haruka no Himitsu: Purezza, Outbreak Company, Lady Jewelpet, In Search of the Lost Future, My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU TOO!, and This Art Club Has a Problem!. Kihara wrote the story for the Graduale der Wolken manga.

Kihara is known today as a writer of horror stories, working on the Tales of Terror from Tokyo and All Over Japan film series, and has written his own series of horror books.

Anime North 2019 will be held from May 24-26 at Toronto Congress Centre and Delta Hotel Airport in Toronto, Ontario. Idol group Wasuta (The World Standard) will also attend the event.
