Isekai Quartet premieres on April 9, Shōmetsu Toshi on April 7

Aniplus-Asia announced on Wednesday that it will air a simulcast of the Isekai Quartet crossover anime project, as well as the Shōmetsu Toshi anime (under the title AFTERLOST).

The Isekai Quartet simulcast will premiere on April 9 at 24:30 GMT +8 (effectively at April 10 at 12:30 a.m. GMT +8).

The anime will premiere in Japan on April 9 at 24:30 (effectively April 10 at 12:30 a.m.) on Tokyo MX, before later airing on MBS, BS11, AT-X, and TV Aichi. The show will stream in Japan on AbemaTV. The show's website is listing the anime with 12 episodes.

The show is a crossover anime featuring characters from the Overlord, KonoSuba – God’s blessing on this wonderful world!!, Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World-, and Saga of Tanya the Evil franchises. The anime will feature the characters in super deformed form.

Minoru Ashina (Kaiju Girls, Pure Pure Purea Desu Overlord shorts) is scripting and directing the project. Minoru Takehara is serving as both character designer and chief animation director. Studio Puyukai (Kaiju Girls, Lord Marksman and Vanadis, Pure Pure Purea Desu Overlord shorts) is animating the work.

In the anime's story, a mysterious button suddenly appears one day, and characters who press it are taken to a new world to gather.

Kadokawa stated in the anime's announcement that all four franchises together have more than 16 million book copies in print, and more than 500,000 combined Blu-ray Disc and DVD sales totals. All four light novel series are in the "isekai" (another world) genre, and each has inspired manga and anime adaptations.

The simulcast for the AFTERLOST anime will premiere this Sunday, April 7 at 24:00 (effectively April 8 at 12:00 a.m.).

The show will premiere in Japan on Tokyo MX on April 7 at 11:30 p.m., before airing later that evening on BS11. The show will also later air on Yomiuri TV and AT-X.

In the anime's story, one day a town is annihilated. Yuki is a young woman who is said to be the only person left alive from the town after the annihilation, and Takuya is a loner and a smuggler. Together, with the letter left by Yuki's father, they go toward the town, now called Lost, but unexpected obstacles stand in their path. The thoughts of those left behind, secret and mysterious organizations, and hidden conspiracies await Yuki and Takuya as they move closer toward the mystery behind Lost.

Shigeyuki Miya (Blood Lad, Onihei) is directing the anime, and Shingo Irie (Kuroko's Basketball, Sakura Quest) is in charge of the series scripts. Tomoyuki Shitaya (Bakuman., Food Wars! Shokugeki no Soma) is designing the characters. Satoshi Motoyama is directing the sound, and Kenji Kawai (Ghost in the Shell, Eden of the East, Patlabor) is composing the music. Madhouse is producing the series, and Pony Canyon is producing the music.

Mao Abe is performing the opening theme song "Kotae" (Answer), and the five-member all-female idol unit SPR5 are performing the show's ending theme song "With Your Breath." The anime will also feature the song "Swallowtail Butterfly ~Ai no Uta~" performed by Kana Hanazawa as her character Yuki.
