Bananya Season 2 Anime's English Teaser Video Streamed

posted on by Alex Mateo
Bananya and the Curious Bunch debuts in fall 2019

Crunchyroll began streaming an English teaser video for Bananya and the Curious Bunch (Bananya: Fushigi na Nakamatachi), the second season of the anime adapting Q-LiA's Bananya banana cat mascot character, on Wednesday.

The anime will premiere on TV Tokyo's Kinder TV variety program for children on October 1 at 7:30 a.m. Kana Yūki will voice the narrator.

Crunchyroll will begin streaming the anime in fall 2019 worldwide except Asia, and it describes the story:

There are still many mysterious creatures in this universe that we don't know about. On a distant planet, one mysterious species has come into existence. They are known as “Bananyas.” What sort of planet do the Bananyas come from, and what sort of life do they lead? And what if they began to dream about coming to Earth someday?

Bananya is a mysterious catlike creature born from a banana tree. The character already received a five-minute anime series that ran on Teletama (TV Saitama) and Sun TV from July 2016 to September 2016. For the new series, Yūki Kaji and Ayumu Murase are reprising their roles of Bananya and various other characters from that previous series. The second season will include over 20 new characters.

Kyō Yatate (Sockie's Frontier Quest) is also returning to direct the anime at the studio Gathering again in collaboration with TMS Entertainment. Masahiro Takata (Super Seisyun Brothers director, scriptwriter). is writing the scripts again. Nobuyuki Abe is back as the sound director, and Akiyuki Tateyama is now the musical composer.

Q-LiA launched the Bananya mascot character in 2015. Crunchyroll streamed the first television anime as it aired, and Discotek released it on Blu-ray Disc and DVD with an English dub in summer 2018.
