Sword fantasy novels by Blade Dance of Elementalers author launched in May

The December issue of Kadokawa's Shōnen Ace magazine announced on Saturday that Yū Shimizu's Seiken Gakuin no Maken Tsukai (Demon's Sword Master of Excalibur School) light novel series is getting a manga adaptation that will launch in the magazine's January 2020 issue, which will ship on November 26. Asuka Keigen will draw the manga, based on Asagi Tōsaka's original character designs.

Kadokawa published the first volume (pictured at right) of Shimizu's novel series with Tōsaka's illustrations on May 25. The second novel shipped on September 25.

In the fantasy story, the demon king Leonis sealed himself away for 1,000 years in order to prepare for the final battle, but when he woke up, he found himself in the body of a 10-year-old boy. A beautiful young woman named Lisellia from the Holy Sword Academy then says to him, "Why were you locked up in such a place? It's OK now, this big sister will take care of you!" Under Lisellia's care, Leonis is shocked to see that the world has completely changed. Bewildered and confused, Leonis finds himself enrolling at the Holy Sword Academy.

Shimizu launched the Blade Dance of Elementalers (Seirei Tsukai no Blade Dance) light novel series in 2010, and ended the series with its 20th volume on March 25. Artist Issei Hyōju (MM!) drew the manga adaptation in Media Factory's Monthly Comic Alive magazine from 2012 to January 2017. The light novel series inspired a television anime in 2014.
