Kill la Kill Manga's Ryou Akizuki Launches Princess Principal Manga

posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda
Manga is based on 2017 steampunk spy action series

Artist and manga creator Ryou Akizuki launched a manga adaptation of the Princess Principal original anime on Tokuma Shoten's Comic Ryū manga website last Friday. Akizuki handled prop design in the original anime.

Sentai Filmworks licensed the television anime series for the summer 2017 streaming season and also for home video. Sentai Filmworks described the television series:

At the end of the 19th century, London, the Kingdom of Albion has been split into East and West sides by a giant wall. Five girls attend Queen's Mayfaire, a conventional and prestigious school. Under the guise of regular high school girls, they act as spies under cover. Disguise, reconnaissance, infiltration, car chases... Each girl uses their own set of special skills to dart around the world of shadow.

Masaki Tachibana (Barakamon, .hack//Quantum) directed the series at Studio 3Hz and Actas. A six-film sequel project has been green-lit, with the first film slated for April 10.

Akizuki launched the manga adaptation of Studio Trigger's Kill la Kill anime in Kadokawa's Young Ace magazine in October 2013, and ended it in 2015 with three volumes. Udon Entertainment released all three volumes in English.
