Yuko Sanpei, Ayaka Saitō, Ikkei Watanabe reprise voice roles

The official website for the television anime adaptation of Troll's Oshiri Tantei (Butt Detective) children's books revealed on Monday that the books are inspiring a stage musical adaptation that will combine singing, dancing, and mystery solving with interactions from the audience. The musical's title is Oshiri Tantei Musical ~Mursaki Fujin no Angō Jiken~ (Butt Detective Musical ~The Case of Mrs. Murasaki's Code~), and it will run at the Nerima Culture Center on April 25 and 26.

The musical will feature actors in full character costume, with Yūko Sanpei, Ayaka Saitō, and Ikkei Watanabe reprising their voice roles as Oshiri Tantei, Brown, and the narrator, respectively. Daiki Ise, the singer of the anime's theme song, will play an original character in the musical. Kahori Kanaya is directing.

The first three episodes of the television anime premiered on NHK E Tele in May 2018, and a new series of seven episodes premiered in July 2018. The anime began a regular television anime airing in December 2018, and has been running weekly since.

Poplar published Troll's first Oshiri Tantei picture book in Japan in 2012, and the series now has more than 2 million copies in print.
