Konosuba and Quintessential Quintuplets Released Monday

posted on by Andrew Osmond
New releases from Anime Limited and Manga Entertainment

On Monday 12 October, Anime Limited will release a Collector's Blu-ray of Season 1 of KonoSuba – God’s blessing on this wonderful world!! It includes the ten TV episodes and the OVA episode (of Season 1 ("God's Blessings On This Wonderful Choker!"), plus an 80-page booklet, including character art and storyboards of the opening and closing sequences.

The series features Kazuma, a shut-in student who dies in a traffic accident, but meets the goddess Aqua after death. He is given the chance to reincarnate in a fantasy world and can keep one thing with him. When he decides to choose Aqua herself, they are both transported to their new lives. The pair go on quests to earn just enough to buy food, shelter, and clothing, and eventually hire the sorceress Megumin and swordswoman Darkness, who they quickly learn are just as useless as they are.

Manga Entertainment will release Blu-ray and DVD editions of The Quintessential Quintuplets. Manga summarises the story:

"Desperate to pay off his family's debt, Futaro Uesugi quintuples his troubles when he accepts a new job—tutoring a set of quintuplets! If he can't get Itsuki, Miku, Ichika, Nino, and Yotsuba to hit the books, he can kiss his paycheck goodbye."

Satoshi Kuwabara (Dagashi Kashi 2, Yu-Gi-Oh! Zexal) directed the series at Tezuka Productions (Dagashi Kashi 2, Black Jack). Keiichirō Ōchi was in charge of series composition (Hinamatsuri, La Corda d'Oro Blue Sky). Michinosuke Nakamura (Hajime no Ippo Rising, Kids on the Slope) and Miyabi Uta (name romanization not confirmed) designed the characters. Natsumi Tabuchi (Castle Town Dandelion, Clockwork Planet), Hanae Nakamura (Clockwork Planet, Convenience Store Boy Friends), and Miki Sakurai composed the music.
