2nd part in 2-film project opened in Japan on April 22

PVR Pictures announced on Twitter on Wednesday that the second Free! The Final Stroke film in the two-part film project in the Free! anime franchise will open in Indian theaters on July 29.

PVR Pictures describes the story:

After his first appearance on the competitive world stage, Haruka is held captive by the swimming of the unmistakable champion, Albert, and feels like he's lost his way. With the current state of things, his swimming and what the water means to him are called into question. Haruka begins to sink to the bottom of the murky water as he struggles on his own. What scenery will Haruka see at the end of this struggle?

The film opened at #4 on April 22 in Japan. It has sold about 625,000 tickets and earned a cumulative total of 910 million yen (about US$6.69 million).

The first film opened in Japan in September 2021. The films are the "final chapter" for the franchise. The project's tagline is, "Let's go, to the stage of glory." The first film opened at #3 at the Japanese box office, and earned 543,136,940 yen (about US$4.75 million) as of October 17.
