Aniplus Asia Airs Simulcast of The Witch and the Beast, Bottom-Tier Character Tomozaki 2nd Stage Anime

Aniplus-Asia announced on Friday and Tuesday that it has licensed the anime adaptation of Kōsuke Satake's The Witch and the Beast (Majo to Yajū) manga, as well as Bottom-Tier Character Tomozaki 2nd Stage (Jaku Chara Tomozaki-kun 2nd Stage), the second television anime season of Yūki Yaku's Bottom-tier Character Tomozaki (Jaku-chara Tomozaki-kun) light novel series.
Aniplus-Asia is streaming an English-subtitled trailer for The Witch and the Beast.
Kodansha USA Publishing is releasing the manga in English, and it describes the story:
Guideau: a feral girl with long fangs and the eyes of a beast. Ashaf: a soft-spoken man with delicate features and a coffin strapped to his back. This ominous pair appears one day in a town that's in thrall to a witch, who has convinced the townsfolk she's their hero. But Ashaf and Guideau know better. They have scores to settle, and they won't hesitate to remove anyone in their way…

Takayuki Hamana (Sorcerous Stabber Orphen) is directing the anime at Yokohama Animation Lab. Hiroya Iijima (Afro Samurai) is designing the characters. Progressive rock band Soko ni Naru will perform the opening theme song "Soumonka" and Yoshino Nanjō will perform the ending theme song "Hikari no Trill" (Trill of Light).
The anime's second season features a returning staff and cast. DIALOGUE+ performs the anime's opening theme song "Easy? Hard? Shikashite Susume!" (Easy? Hard? But Let's Move On!), as well as the ending theme song "Dareka Janai Kara" (Because It's Not Someone). DIALOGUE+ also performed the first season's theme songs.
The first anime premiered in January 2021. Aniplus-Asia aired a simulcast of the anime as it aired in Japan.
Yen Press is releasing the novel series in English in North America, and it describes the story:
Tomozaki is one of the best gamers in Japan, and in his opinion, the game of real life is one of the worst. No clear-cut rules for success, horribly balanced, and nothing makes sense. But then he meets a gamer who's just as good as him, and she offers to teach him a few exploits…
The anime also received two OVA episodes that were bundled with the third and fourth Blu-ray Disc and DVD home video volumes of the anime in May and June 2021, respectively. Aniplus-Asia aired the first OVA episode in July 2021.
