Netflix Streams A Girl & Her Guard Dog, The Unwanted Undead Adventurer Anime in India

Netflix is streaming all 13 episodes of the television anime of Hatsuharu's A Girl & Her Guard Dog (Ojō to Banken-kun) manga in India. It is also streaming the television anime adaptation of Yū Okano's The Unwanted Undead Adventurer (Nozomanu Fushi no Bōkensha) light novel series in India as it airs in Japan.

A Girl & Her Guard Dog premiered on September 28 on the TOKYO MX, Yomiuri TV, and BS Asahi channels. The anime's staff had first announced that it would premiere in October. The anime's first two episodes had an advance screening in Japan on September 3 at the United Cinemas Toyosu in Tokyo.

The anime streamed in India on the Ani-One Asia YouTube channel as it aired in Japan. Ani-One Asia describes the series:

15-year-old girl, Isaku is the granddaughter of the third Senagaki yakuza boss. She is ready to make her high school debut in a place far away from her home. She wants to find a normal life, meet friends, or maybe even find love. But her overprotective 26-year-old guardian, Keiya also fakes his age and enrolls in the same school to protect Isaku from any male who comes close. “You are too young for romance,” Keiya says to Isaku, yet Keiya doesn't know is that Isaku has had a crush on him since a long time ago…?!

Crunchyroll also added the anime on September 28.

Nobuhiro Takamoto (Beelzebub, VazzRock the Animation) directed the anime at Project No.9. Aya Satsuki (My Master Has No Tail, Too Cute Crisis) was in charge of the series scripts. Yukiko Ban (.hack//SIGN, Shining Tears X Wind, Yowamushi Pedal) designed the characters. Tsubasa Ito (Skeleton Knight in Another World, I'm Standing on 1,000,000 Lives, Iwa-Kakeru! -Sport Climbing Girls-) composed the music. Akari Kitō performed the anime's ending theme song "Magie×Magie."

Hatsuharu launched the manga in Bessatsu Friend in December 2018. The manga is currently on hiatus so the author can prepare for the manga's "second year arc." Kodansha USA Publishing is releasing the manga in English digitally. It released the manga's eighth volume digitally in English in March 2023.

The Unwanted Undead Adventurer debuted on January 8 on AT-X, Tokyo MX, and Sun TV. The show began streaming in Japan on d Anime Store and Netflix starting on January 5.

Muse Asia is also streaming The Unwanted Undead Adventurer as it airs in Japan. Muse Asia describes the anime:

Ten years have passed since Rentt first made that vow. Ten years spent polishing his skills with the blade, studying lore, and helping out at the adventurer's guild, but he's still only Bronze rank. Still, every day he delves into the dungeon and gives it his all. And then one day, when exploring an unknown area of a beginner dungeon called the “Watermoon Labyrinth,” he is eaten by a dragon. He thinks his life is over, but instead awakens to find himself in the form of a skeleton, the weakest monster of all. Instead of giving into despair, though, he starts to think about what he can do to change his fate. He uses the monster's power of “existence evolution” to try and get stronger and stronger, and one day become human once more. Rentt, now an undead, resumes his journey to become a Mythril rank adventurer.

Crunchyroll added the anime in India on January 5.

Noriaki Akitaya (Bakuman. all three seasons, Slow Loop) is directing the anime at CONNECT. Yukie Sugawara (Overlord all four seasons) is overseeing the series scripts, and Takao Sano (The Honor Student at Magic High School, Restaurant to Another World) is designing the characters. DJ/musical artist/music producer JUVENILE performs the opening theme song "Immortal." Mao Abe performd the ending theme song.

Okano launched the series on the Shōsetsuka ni Narō website in 2016, and OVERLAP began publishing the series in print with illustrations by Jaian in October 2017. A manga adaptation by Haiji Nakasone launched on OVERLAP's Comic Gardo website in November 2017. J-Novel Club is publishing both the light novel series and the manga adaptation in English.
