September 15, 2010

San Francisco, Calif. – Crunchyroll, Inc., announced today the expansion of TV TOKYO's industry-leading support of the same-day streaming of anime content outside of Japan through its addition of three new anime titles to Crunchyroll's Fall 2010 Anime Lineup. Masahiro Anbe's Squid Girl and Tamiki Wakaki's The World God Only Knows will join Hiroyuki Asada's Tegami Bachi: Letter Bee, which returns from a six-month hiatus, and five continuing TV TOKYO titles which will simulcast on Crunchyroll following their broadcasts across Japan. Continuing TV TOKYO simulcasts are Naruto Shippūden, BLEACH, Fairy Tail, Kaasan – Mom's Life and Lilpri. More information on TV TOKYO's lineup of titles on Crunchyroll as well as a listing of its nearly 2,000 episodes of total content is available at http://www.crunchyroll.com/user/tvtm.

Crunchyroll CEO Kun Gao said: “Through our combined efforts, Crunchyroll and TV TOKYO have created an official destination for anime fans from around the world to watch the latest and greatest anime direct from Japan. We look forward to presenting these three new titles as well five continuing TV TOKYO titles across our entire platform of websites and devices.”

TV TOKYO General Manager of Animation Yukio Kawasaki said: “Crunchyroll is the most important digital platform for anime outside of Japan. Through Crunchyroll, we continue to build brand awareness, combat piracy and create new monetization opportunities via a blend of subscription and ad-supported business models. By doing this, TV TOKYO is taking the clear lead in the cultivation of a healthy economic ecosystem for the future existence of the anime business as a whole, and taking a key step in revitalizing an essential cultural treasure within Japan's economy.”

Squid Girl, The World God Only Knows and Tegami Bachi: Letter Bee will be available worldwide outside of Asia. Squid Girl follows the antics of a Squid Girl from the sea in her half-baked attempts to take over the world. Tegami Bachi: Letter Bee is an adventure story of letter bees who deliver packages in a fantastic world. The World God Only Knows follows Keima, a high school student obsessed with love simulator games and 2D girls, until one day he is called to action through an unholy pact to capture spirits trapped in real-life girls.
