Japanese Government Establishes “Creative Industries Internationalization Committee” to Strengthen the Proliferation of Japanese Anime, Manga, Fashion and Culture Throughout the World

TOKYO (APRIL 10th 2013) - The newly appointed Minister of METI (Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry) Toshimitsu Motegi has established a committee called “METI Creative Industries Internationalization Committee” (掲載産業省クリエイティブ産業国際展開懇談会) to financially support and implement any measures needed to strengthen the proliferation of Japanese culture and contents throughout the world.

The Japanese government selected committee members based on the wealth of their knowledge in the globalisation of their brands which include anime, game and manga publishers that include Unozawa Shin (Bandai Namco Games President), Kitagawa Naoki (Sony Music Entertainment President), Noma Yoshinobu (Kodansha President), Hori Yoshitaka (HoriPro President) and Danny Choo (Culture Japan Producer).

Danny Choo has spoken about his responsibilities as a committee member which will be to represent the overseas audience and convey recommendations or criticism to the other committee members on the subject of how Japan could be doing better at bringing the world their products, services or content.

The committee members are due to meet monthly at the Ministry and Danny Choo will be publishing reports on the meeting on his website.
