UTB Los Angeles premieres new drama Strategist Kanbe and My Little Nightmare

February 17, 2014 - Los Angeles television station UTB 18.2 has announced the start of two new drama series in February.

NHK historical Taiga drama Gunshi Kanbe (English broadcast title: Strategist Kanbe) stars Junichi Okada as a gifted strategist from Himeji who supported the famous leader Hideyoshi Toyotomi with his eloquence and brilliant military strategies during Japan's Age of Civil Wars. Okada, a member of the Japanese pop group V6, has won acting awards in Japan for his work in the drama series SP and Tiger & Dragon. Okada is joined in the series by award-wining actress and singer Miki Nakatani (Ringu, Jin, Densha Otoko).

Gunshi Kanbe (Strategist Kanbe) begins broadcast for free in the Southern California area with English subtitles on Saturday, February 22.

Akumu-chan (English broadcast title: My Little Nightmare) stars Keiko Kitagawa (The After-Dinner Mysteries, Buzzer Beat) as a cold-hearted school teacher who meets a young girl who has the power to predict the future through her dreams. International music superstar Gackt co-stars as a professor's assistant who leads a double-life, using his power in the dream world for his own purposes. The series won Japanese Television Drama Academy Awards for best screenwriter and best theme song (from Momoiro Clover Z).

Akumu-chan (My Little Nightmare) begins broadcast for free in the Southern California area with English subtitles on Monday, February 24.

This month's premieres join UTB's slate of high-quality Japanese television programming including Job-Hopper Buys a House (starring Kazunari Ninomiya), Iryū Sosa (CSI), Aibou 11 (starring Yutaka Mizutani Yutaka and Hiroki Narimiya), Second To Last Love (starring Kyoko Koizumi), and animated shows Case Closed, Eagle Talon NEO, and Sherlock Hound.
