MIREI & DDR Rocked SacAnime Winter 2017

MIREI & DDR Rocked SacAnime Winter 2017!

18 year old singer songwriter MIREI (Mirei Touyama) and the viral dance & vocal sensation DDR (Dancing Dolls R) shook the stage at SacAnime which took place at Sacramento Convention Center right after the new year (Jan 6th to 8th). MIREI, also known for her expressive voice and fierce dance moves performed at several stages throughout the weekend singing her Japanese debut single, “I Wanna NO” as well as “Memories” which features her trademark dance break, and latest tear jerking ballad, “By Your Side”. For her American fans, she performed a cover of Cyndi Lauper's “True Colors” which certainly touched the heart of every audience. Following her main performance, her rendition of Porter Robinson/Madeon's “Shelter” pushed the dance floor even harder, and it closed the evening.

DDR (Dancing Dolls R), is the three original members (a leader and choreographer = MIsaki, a lead singer = Mii and the CENTER figure = Hono) of the Osaka native quintet, Dancing Dolls. The trio focuses on more matured materials and hard edged dance moves when performing without newly added younger members, Kanon and Miu. Along with Mirei, DDR also completed several stages at SacAnime and performed their hit single, “Ring Dong” and “Monochrome” along with a couple of their signature vocaloid covers including “Keppekishow” and “Jinsei Rest Button,” which gave them rave reviews from their US performance debut at Anime Expo in last summer. This time, the audience also discovered another side of Mii from her impeccable cover of “Into You” by Ariana Grande. Mii sounded just like Ariana, and Misaki and Hono shone her with sensual moves and choruses!

DDR also performed a cover of K-POP star, Kara's smash hit, “Lupin” in Japanese with the same exact choreography and wowed many of the K-POP Battle contestants in the audience. Furthermore, the evening's highlight was certainly a special collaboration with MIRIE and DDR's medley starting with Beyonce's “Formation” followed by their rendition of K-POP smash hits: f(x)'s “4 Walls” and Girl's Generation's “Catch Me If You Can”. It was fire and their Osaka spirit on Beyonce was definitely savage!
