Otakuthon Manga Festival Presents its First Guests

MONTREAL – April 30th, 2018. Otakuthon announces today the presale of the tickets for the 14th edition of its comic book and japanese animation convention, that will be held August 16th - 18th 2019 at the Palais des congrès de Montréal.

Otakuthon presents this year a brand new exciting concert program. The convention is proud to feature Hirano Yoshihisa, composer for several anime and video game soundtracks (Death Note, Hunter x Hunter, Ouran High School Host Club, Final Fantasy XIII, etc.) For the first time in North America, Yoshihisa will conduct an ensemble of 10 musicians for a rendition of his most known works. Guests also count the band FAKY, who chose Otakuthon 2019 to present their first J-POP show in Canada.

Convention attendees will also have the chance to meet voice actors Kyle McCarley (Mobile Suit Gundam, Durarara!!x2, God Eater 2 & 3), Derek Stephen Prince (Power Rangers, Digimon, Naruto, Kingdom Hearts), Erica Lindbeck (Heroes of the Storm, Sailor Moon, Persona 5, Mega Man 11) and Patrick Seitz (Code Geass, Kill la Kill, One Piece, Attack on Titan). Japanese voice actress and singer Rica Matsumoto will also be attending. She is known for singing Pokémon opening songs and also as the voices of young male characters like Satoshi (Ash) from Pokémon and Ryo and Yami Bakura from Yu-Gi-Oh!.

This year's Friday programming will include a host club, an immersive bilingual role playing activity. Attendees will have the possibility to sign up to enjoy a buffet-style menu and be surrounded by cosplaying hosts, right out of My Hero Academia, Haikyuu!! or Bungou Stray Dogs.

The Otakuthon Cultural Society, which organizes the convention every year with the support of its many volunteers, was awarded in 2018 a certificate of commendation by the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan for its contribution to the promotion of mutual understanding between Japan and Canada.
