Amid this turmoil, an elite unit of ninjas known as Taimanin emerges, gifted with superhuman strength and ready to combat the encroaching darkness.

INTRO
Tokyo is infested with demons, creatures of darkness and corruption.
By ancient unspoken agreement, humans and these dark beings have always held themselves apart—until man's depravity began to break down the barriers. At present, humans and demons collude to form gangs and corporations.
Though evil may be on the rise, those who still choose to walk the righteous path find themselves far from powerless.
The government has formed the Taimanin, a group of ninjas who, while human, possess the strength to fight such nefarious foes.
Asagi Igawa is the strongest of these elites, but after one last mission against Oboro—the fallen ninja leader of the Oboro Ninja Troop—she plans to retire from her years of service to marry her lover Kyousuke Sawaki.
Yet her duty may not yet be done with Asagi, as her nemesis creeps back from the dead to seek vengeance...

This story's protagonist. The game takes place from her perspective.
Asagi is a Taimanin, a female ninja sworn to bury inhuman evils in the dark from which they rise.
She is hailed as the strongest of all the Taimanin due to her genius for swordplay and martial arts, her unbelievable speed, and a string of accomplishments that speak for themselves.
Having lost her parents early in life, she now lives together with her younger sister.
Meanwhile, she continues a romantic relationship with her childhood friend Kyousuke Sawaki, which began over her father's objections back when he was alive.
A ninja must prioritize her missions over everything, wading through blood and sin to the singular goal of victory.
Asagi knows this, but still refuses to abandon her love for Kyousuke.
Sakura Igawa

Our heroine Asagi's younger sister is vivacious, beautiful, and often competitive, but has a certain soft spot for Asagi herself.
Her genetics give her the potential to be a deadly ninja like her elder sister.
However, in terms of practical ability, she's only an apprentice for now.
She yearns to put her natural talents to work for the greater good as a Taimanin, a future that Asagi is staunchly against.
Sakura has nonetheless been pursuing her training in secret.
Oboro
Voice: Satomi Kodama
As the leader of the mercenary Oboro Ninja Troop, Oboro is all too happy to work in service of the monstrous multinational conglomerate Nomad and their literal monster allies.
She has been a key figure in Nomad's expansion in Japan, before which she was a clan head among the Koga Ninjas. Asagi has killed her once, but that couldn't keep her down: Oboro has returned in a new if not quite human form and taken charge as the proprietress of the underground Chaos Arena.
Burning with a need for revenge on Asagi, when Oboro learns of her relationship with Kyousuke, she possesses his body and lays a trap for her nemesis...
Edwin Black

The founder of Nomad. The father of vampires.
Unlike your regular street bloodsuckers—who are nothing more than transformed humans—Edwin Black's immortality is his birthright; he is immune to the famous weaknesses that plague his lesser kin.
The sun's light does him no harm and grants his victims no shelter.
He can turn into clouds of small particles such as mist or dust, and those whom he drains may rise again as vampires.
He can drain the life force of any living thing with nothing more than a touch.
In the dark circles where his kind run, Edwin Black is a member of the ruling class.
Kyousuke Sawaki

Asagi's fiancé and childhood friend, as well as a big brother figure to Sakura.
For all he comes off as spacey and unreliable, Kyousuke is a faithful soul and a good man at heart.
Descending from a line of ninjas that has long served Asagi's family, he was formerly also a student at Asagi's father's school of swordsmanship.
However, he has not manifested the rare genes needed to fight like a ninja or execute his family's secret arts, so the Sawaki bloodline is thought to have reached a dead end.
