posted on by Jennifer Sherman
The first part of the "Wonder Woman Creators Collaboration" project to mark the Japanese release of the American film Wonder Woman debuted on Friday. Three anime character designers contributed illustrations of the film's protagonist Diana for the collaboration. Here are their illustrations:
Akemi Takada (Patlabor the Mobile Police, Magical Angel Creamy Mami, Urusei Yatsura)
Shingo Adachi (Sword Art Online, Wagnaria!!, Galilei Donna)
Hello Kitty and Takara Tomy's dress-up doll Licca-chan also partnered for the first part of the collaboration.
The illustrations will appear as part of the "Wonder Woman Art-ten" art exhibit at the Lumine EST mall in Shinjuku, Tokyo beginning on July 28. People who follow the film's official Japanese Twitter account and tweet with the campaign hashtag will be eligible to win one special illustration by American comic book artist Jim Lee or one of five of Funko's Pop! Wonder Woman figures. The promotion will end on August 31. The collaboration's official website states that the second part of the project is "coming soon."
Shiori Teshirogi will release the Justice League Origin: Wonder Woman manga in the September issue of Akita Shoten's Champion RED magazine on July 19. Metal Gear Solid character and mechanical designer Yoji Shinkawa also contributed to the Japanese release of the Wonder Woman Anthology book, which shipped on June 23.
The film will open in Japan on August 25. The film opened in North America on June 2.
