Square Enix Unveils Game-Streaming Service for Mobile Devices

Square Enix unveiled Dive In, its streaming service for games on mobile devices, on Tuesday in Japan. Starting October 9, the service will allow people "to enjoy Square Enix games from the classics to the latest titles on your smartphones and tablets." The service supports both Android (4.1 or higher) and Apple's iOS (iPhone 5/third-generation iPad or higher) devices with an Internet connection of at least 3 Mbps (6 Mbps recommended for higher resolution graphics).

The first three titles will be:

Final Fantasy XIII	Final Fantasy VII International	Season of Mystery: The Cherry Blossom Murders
3 DAYS 250 yen + tax	200 yen + tax	150 yen + tax
10 DAYS 510 yen + tax	400 yen + tax	300 yen + tax
30 DAYS 1,250 yen + tax	1,000 yen + tax	800 yen + tax
365 DAYS 1,800 yen + tax	1,429 yen + tax	1,185 yen + tax

All titles will be free to play for 30 minutes.

Square Enix will then offer Final Fantasy VIII and The Last Remnant in November. Next, it will offer Final Fantasy XIII-2 and Murdered: The Soul Suspect in December, followed by Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII and other titles next year.

Square Enix announced its cloud-based gaming initiative under the name Project Flare last November. Dive In will use G-Cluster's cloud technology via a dedicated Dive In Viewer app.
