Shinei Animation animates series based on Doraemon co-creator's manga

The official website of Warau Salesman NEW, the new television anime adaptation of Fujiko Fujio A's (Motoo Abiko) Warau Salesman (The Laughing Salesman) manga, revealed on Thursday that NakamuraEmi will perform the anime's opening theme song "Don't."

The site previously streamed a teaser video for the anime last month.

Text: After 28 years...
Moguro: The world is filled with lonely men and women.
Text: This man is back.
Moguro: I'll fill the hole in your heart.
Moguro and Logo: Warau Salesman NEW
Text: Fukuzō Moguro is back.

The anime will premiere on April 3.

Hirofumi Ogura (Shin ATASHIn'CHI, Black Butler II, The Knight in the Area) is directing the anime at Shinei Animation. Naohiro Fukushima (Eden of the East, EUREKA SEVEN AO), Asami Ishikawa (Shiki), and Midori Natsu (Feng Shui Academy, Yuruyuri - Happy Go Lily) are writing the scripts. Fujio Suzuki (Midori no Makibao, New Getter Robo) is drawing the character designs and is also the chief animation director. Minoru Nishida (Thundercats, Mind Game) is the art director, and Akiko Inoue is in charge of color design.

Masato Makino (Crayon Shin-chan films, Mysterious Joker) is the director of photography. Yumiko Nakaba (Captain Tsubasa, Doraemon films) is the editor. Kouichi Iizuka (Queen Emeraldas, To Heart) is the sound director, while Kōhei Tanaka (Gunbuster, One Piece) is composing the music.

The anime will first premiere on TOKYO MX on April 3 at 11:00 p.m. The series will then premiere on the Yomiuri, BS11, and Animax channels. The series will be the third anime in the "Anime no Me" programming block (after Sweetness and Lightning and Trickster).

Tesshō Genda will play main character Fukuzō Moguro (seen right). Each episode will feature a guest voice actor.

The original manga's story revolves around Fukuzō Moguro, who appears before people who are struggling with life, and promises to grant them their desires for free. But his clients often disregard his advice or cheat during the process, whereupon he exacts a heavy price from their lives.

Fujiko Fujio A debuted the manga in Shogakukan's Big Comic magazine in 1968 with the title Kuroi Salesman (The Black Salesman), and it ran until 1971. The first television anime adaptation ran from 1989 to 1992. The franchise received a live-action television series in 1999. The original voice actor who played Fukuzō in the anime, Tooru Oohira, passed away last April.

Motoo Abiko, whose author pseudonym is Fujiko Fujio A, is perhaps best known as one half of the duo that created the iconic Doraemon manga. He created the manga alongside Hiroshi Fujimoto, and they worked under the pseudonym of Fujiko Fujio. When the duo split up, Abiko took the pseudonym Fujiko Fujio A, and Fujimoto took the pseudonym Fujiko Fujio (F), later renamed to Fujiko F. Fujio. Fujimoto passed away in 1996.
