posted on by Jennifer Sherman
Compilation film to make U.S. premiere at convention on November 19

LeftField Media and Sunrise announced on Tuesday that the first Anime NYC convention will hold a Mobile Suit Gundam Thunderbolt anime music concert led by composer Naruyoshi Kikuchi. In addition to leading and performing in the concert, Kikuchi will speak at panels and sign autographs.

The convention will also host the United States premiere of the Mobile Suit Gundam Thunderbolt: Bandit Flower compilation film on November 19. The screening and concert will be free for all Anime NYC attendees. However, a limited Premium Package with reserved seats to both events, a private autograph session, an exclusive print, and an original Japanese soundtrack CD is available for US$75.

The convention will take place from November 17 to 19 at the Javits Center. Crunchyroll is the convention's title sponsor, with Funimation, Viz Media, and Kinokuniya Bookstore also signed on as sponsors.

The official website for Mobile Suit Gundam Thunderbolt revealed the Mobile Suit Gundam Thunderbolt: Bandit Flower compilation film and began streaming a promotional video on Monday. The anime will screen in 15 Japanese theaters from November 18 to December 1. (Note: The video on the official website is region-locked to Japan.)

A limited first edition Blu-ray Disc release of the film will be offered in the theaters screening the film on November 18. The release will include a special disc and a storyboard compilation. The Bandai Visual Club store will begin offering the Ultra HD Blu-ray Disc release on December 8. The version will have both a standard Blu-ray Disc and a disc with 4K resolution and HDR. The film will also get a standard edition DVD and Blu-ray Disc release on December 8.

The film will be a compilation film for the anime's second season.

The second season debuted with the fifth episode on March 24. Episodes are available via an EST (Electronic Sell Through) service that allows purchasers to download the episode or through a TVOD (Transactional Video on Demand) service that allows rental viewing for a set period. The eighth and final episode of the second episode debuted last Friday, July 14 after a delay.

The first season of the net anime began streaming in December 2015, and the fourth and final episode began streaming last April. The first season received a director's cut compilation titled Mobile Suit Gundam Thunderbolt: December Sky, which includes additional scenes. Right Stuf released an import edition Blu-Ray Disc of the director's cut with both English and Japanese audio tracks last July.

Sunrise produced NYAV Post's dub for Mobile Suit Gundam Thunderbolt: December Sky, the compilation film of the first anime season based on Yasuo Ohtagaki's manga. The annual Sunrise Festival screening series will show the film's English dub at Tokyo's Shinjuku Piccadilly theater on August 15. The second season will also get an English dub. Sunrise is producing the dub track from NYAV Post.
