To be fair, Coco is a great movie thematically, and beautifully rendered to boot.

Coco was definitely not better than Your Name. Anime never seems to win any of these awards.

It's like they hear the words 'made in Japan' and it's ignored.
2D should get the credit it's deserved especially when you have to hand draw every frame unlike 3D where the computer does half the work.
Honestly Shinkai's scenery and character animation knocks everything out the park.

Why wasn’t A Silent Voice nominated?

As much as I enjoy Your Name, Coco is a much more culturally significant film with an inspiring message that's important to a lot of people.

"Cultural significance" shouldn't overwrite quality. And I'm mexican and dont give a damn about Coco.

Funnily enough the two Mexican girls I work with said the same thing. They said Coco looked dumb and had no interest in it. Anime not winning should be expected, and let's be honest, the other nominees aren't anything noteworthy either so the Disney film taking the award was pretty much the default as per usual. It should be expected by now,

The award isn't for the film with the best animation, but for the best film that happens to be animated. 2d vs 3d doesn't really apply.

So a poorly made movie (Your Name.) lost and a overpriced cash grab box-set also lost and you are sad about it?
Not even Makoto Shinkai's worst work tbh.

The Saturn awards are centered around Science fiction, fantasy and horror, and a Silent Voice doesn't tick those boxes.

That's incredibly untrue and shows a breathtaking ignorance of how animation works.
In any case as has been pointed out the award deals with all aspects of the film and not just the animation. Coco was a much better film in that respect (and I wasn't the hugest fan of Coco). Shinkai's works are visually striking to be sure, but are often far too bland thematically for my liking.

It's hilarious how hypocritical anime fans can be when it comes to awards shows. They get really mad at the academies for only selecting films that they saw and liked, but want anime films to win FOR THE EXACT SAME REASON. If you really want to see anime win awards, check out the Japan Academy at least (even if it also has its share of controversy - I'm pretty sure one of the members even had to make a statement after fans got mad over In This Corner of the World beating Your Name).

Although, tbf, Your Name was not the greatest, holiest, most momentous feature ever made in the history of anime, either.
(I watched it on disk last month thinking "What did they put in the soup??", and, apart from it being a "generic" one-shot feature anime, where mainstream audiences don't have to worry about being otaku-fans of a specific series, I'm still not sure.)
Similarly, whether Coco was the greatest, most feely/teary-eyed Pixar ever made as some audiences claim, or whether it was just a pleasant rehash of most of "Up"'s storylines with John Lasseter's "Spirited Away" fandom, and Kirsten Lopez's Frozen songs trying to sound mariachi, is left pretty much up to the individual viewer:
If you have a Mexican grandmother of your own, then that's subjective license to start gushing tears, otherwise, ehh.
And to top it all off, it was the Saturn awards, and William Shatner DIDN'T sing Rocket Man!

Talking about the other category, was there anything otherwise award-worthy about that Speed Racer collection other than the goofy bust of Go/Speed's head?
I haven't seen the Night of the Living Dead Criterion but Criterion releases are usually packed with insightful interviews and documentaries providing lots of context about the film they're released with, and another major factor in its win was probably to honour the life and films of director George A. Romero, who died last year.
