I guess it will just be a condensed version of the series. Hope there is some new animation though. I am sad to see the series end, maybe we can hope for a second season???

Let me guess, it will be a recap movie. (Who would have thought?!) Unless they can pull another Do You Remember Love state-of-the-art graphics and sparing no expense with a complete re-telling of the better portion of the show. No, I'll take the pessimistic outlook and guess they'll do what Sunrise does, directly cut animation from the show, maybe re-touch it, mix it together, and call it a brand new film. Hell, a lot of studios do this and it pisses me off immensely.

You have to remember that these compilation movies are not really designed to be supplements to the TV show. They are designed to get a wider audience than watched the TV show to see the product. You should think of them as nothing more than an alternative distribution method for the same show. There is a pretty large chunk of people who probably were somewhat interested in the show but missed it when it aired on TV, or stopped following it, or simply didn't realize it was even on. These movies are for people like them, and not for people who have already seen the entire series on TV.

Although they do try to add at least some gimmick to get the hard core fans to show up.

The hardcore fans will show up regardless thought, so they will already have those tickets sold.

I'm hoping it will be more like the Utena movie, and go completely different from the normal approach in some alternate yet awesome retelling. Sadly, most anime movies that follows shows just end up being recaps that even recycle footage from the shows like *cough*everygundammovieever*cough*.

The announcement screen right after the final episodes says Macross Frontier Movie Start, it says absolutely nothing about it being a DYRL style movie or a recap movie like say RahXephon. It better be like the first Kimagure Orange Road Movie, that's all I'm going to [expletive] say since going into it more spoils the last episode... I will rage hard if they go with a retelling or complication movie.

The reaction on 2ch, AS and IRC channels about the end of the show pretty much demands this be a continuation.

As much as I want this to be a continuation that will bring the much needed resolution to the spoiler[love triangle], I don't think that the producers have the guts to do just that; from a business POV it will be more profitable for them to keep it ambiguous than losing a sum of the fanbase that will have no wish to buy the DVDs or the merchandise after seeing spoiler[their favored girl lose.]

I stopped watching the show a few eps ago since it was obviously not going to be to my liking.

I just want to remember the good parts and maybe pick up some of the previous Macross (since I was not born by that time)

Well, yeah. And good thing they did that. I like it when writers have the guts to say "bee-dah" to rabid fans instead of pandering to them - especially in a case like this.

Me, I'm pretty much sitting here, going "HA HA HA" - all the more so as both fanbases were so stupid about the whole thing, and their feud is so ridiculously bitter.

I know it's not going to go this way but I really want "Basara and Ozma's Excellent Adventure".

Yes! Nekki Basara from Macross 7 meets with his #1 fan club member Ozma Lee. Together they teach evil humans and space aliens alike the power of being a Man and Rock and Roll.

Guest appearances (yes multiple) by Mylene's bum.

Or maybe they will go the "missing episode" route like Bebop did. Either way they are going to piss off some sub species of fanboy and I will sit back and enjoy the show.

ADV is supposed to be releasing the original Macross: Complete Collection on 10-21-2008, if your interested in actually paying money for licensed DVDs. That is if anything bad doesn't happen to them again and they lose their license.

If you've never seen the original before, its well worth the money if you've got it, as that show is a masterpiece.

Hot damn, this news brought me to tears, no lie. I have loved the series thus far (can't wait to watch the last episode). More Macross Frontier the better. I can die a happy man.

Great news, hopefully this movie will pan out better than the TV series.

As good as the animation and music has been for the Macross F TV series, I still never got into the plot. The Vajra have been rather bleh imo as enemies in the series. They're not even half as interesting as the Zentradi and Meltrandi. The plot twists aren't interesting, and some of the script writing has been questionable. Also, aside from Sheryl's character design, most of the character designs aren't that great. The series has also had a decency to get really musical, to the point where the action is secondary to the music.

Overall, I think Macross F has tried to rehash to many of the plot lines from the original Macross TV series. I don't think that this movie will be as great as Macross:DYRL, but it'll be solid.

As if there wasn't enough reference to Macross 7 in this serie alone.....no, we really can't tell that Ozuma is a die hard Basara fan......
