Counting these OVAs and the other OVAs, Queens Blade will end up with 50 episodes total. I never thought this series would become popular enough to get that many episodes.

The brand was already massively popular WELL before the anime was planned. The artbooks and figures were already making bank in 2007 and earlier, the anime is just an aspect of the brand, not the whole. It's the same concept with Black Rock Shooter, which were drawings, songs, and figures before the OVA. And all of that easily funded the current TV series. This is hardly the first time this has happened in anime before, Gall Force was funded and created in basically the same manner.

What's more important is how well animated and designed the show remains, and the talent going into it. Urushihara did key animation on the first series, and I'm sure he did on the subsequent ones as well. And it shows in many of the scenes.

It also has an all-star cast of seiyuu. Its too bad so many people just write it off as a trashy fansrevice show show, since its actually a pretty good series and well made.

Well, I guess if you don't like anime boobs you wouldn't like it even if you gave it a chance, but its definitely top of the line when it comes to fanservice show quality.

Don't forget Queen's Gate: Spiral Chaos, the awesome crossover RPG with Seikon no Qwaser, King of Fighters, Guilty Gear, Tekken and other properties. With animated cutscenes to boot.

Needless to say, it'll never see the light of day in the US.

Pretty much guarunteed I'll be adding these to my collection unless they really screw up the show somehow.

I likes me some anime boobs but this show is RIDICULOUS with them. I can stand HOTD and Strike Witches and all most other ecchi shows, but if you're watching Queen's Blade, you might as well be watching porn. Hell, porn is less misogynistic and utterly ridiculous.

I cannot take any statement that a show that has a character with a snake for a g-string and another character with boobs that shoot acid is good seriously at all.

Opinions, opinions, OPINIONS EVERYWHERE.

I like the show. Sure, it's really sexual but hey. I like the characters.

That and I've got quite a few of the Battle books so maybe I'm a little biased.

Who'd have thunk that I've come so far that I'd actually developed a relatively concrete interest in a show like this> I just recently started and finished the second season of the first series, about six months after the sheer cheesecake, guilty-pleasure affair of the first one... and man, what a difference it was. It was much more engaging and... even heartfelt? (looking at you, Airi/Lana and Tomoe/Shizuka)... than I thought it would be, coming in.

Maybe part of this has to do with the change in who handled screen composition between the two seasons, the shift from Kinji Yoshimoto to Takao Yoshioka... or maybe not so much, considering the involvement of both in some important manner for the first two seasons. But I guess neither of them will be involved in Rebellion, huh? I can't make any calls on the director beyond the average-to-poor ANN ratings his previous directorial work has gotten, but looking at who's in charge of the screen composition, Hideki Shirane, it seems at least Rebellion's comedic aspects is in decent hands-- if the composition credits on the more familiar Girls' High and Hayate the Combat Butler are anything to go by.

I don't think that comparison is a really valid one to make, saying QB (heheh, QB, Kyubey...) is "more" misogynistic than porn. You know that "real" porn involves men taking advantage of women in various ways and in various sexual positions, right, with girls probably yelling stuff like "やめて〜!” ad infinitum? Meanwhile, save for that one minor supporting cast member that becomes all but literally effed by her male demonic staff (blargh, indeed), Queen's Blade's women are all very assertive and powerful without any particular reliance on a man to speak of, never mind a man that's in a position to take advantage of them. (It came close with Nowa and three nobodies, but that was promptly stopped by Echidna before it went anywhere meaningful.) Heck, there isn't even some weak-minded milquetoast male character to stand in for the intended audience.

Honestly, those gimmicks wear off pretty quickly, and after their introductory SHOCK VALUE moments have passed-- or at least, after the first season has passed-- they just kinda blend into the background enough so that they're not of any particularly meaningful importance. There are still the male gaze shots, of course, and the nudity, but it becomes less of an actual "hook." In exchange, within a few of the first season's latter episodes and the second season altogether, at least some of the characters become more three dimensional than they were previously, and the elimination-style plot makes things really engaging. In the grand scheme of all anime, Queen's Blade may not be all around "good," but for what it is, and for how its exceeded my expectations with The Evil Eye-- it is definitely "good enough."

... Man, I spent way too much time talking about this. It's probably not too healthy to put this much intellectual energy into a Queen's blade discussion, at least all in one go.

A show with a elf that uses a snake as underwear and another character who is a shapeshifting bunny eared slime who shoots her own corrosive body out of lactating breasts is good.

And I haven't even got into the sexist polka dotted panty angel, another elf who doesn't even understand the concept of underwear and Nyx yet. I love Nyx. Why watch this show over hentai? Because Queen's Blade is intended to be funny, among over things.

Queen's Blade is the only show I can think off where adding "overly concepted" characters is benefitial. I was looking forward to the next season and the already existing OVAs; Whether they'll be released in the states is another question.

The bonus footage for the third season is probably no longer than the Gynos Academy shorts from the first season. So they're adding about six new characters; I wonder how many fetishes are left to exploit.

"smashes through restrictions"

Oh yeah, there is that...

Those sale lines, like Akane Iro's "hardcore" OVA don't mean anything. They're just a means to get you interested, but there's literally nothing Queen's Blade can do, short of having explicit genitalia, that's shocking anymore. They've been covered in semenesque liquids, there's sexual innuendo and imagery abound, and the cast is topless for long stretches of the show.

Only if you think that a Playboy video is porn.
I do not think that Queen's Blade qualifies as even soft-core porn.

What part of Queen's Blade is misogynistic?
Sure women are getting the crap beaten out of them, and the clothes beaten off of them, but that is being done by other women.

Those are weapons.
I think that it is a good thing to see some new and unusual weapons, rather than just the typical swords and spears and such.

Disclaimer: I like Queen's Blade (in case you couldn't guess).
