Well, we had guessed that Force's hiatus was due to Higa's busy schedule, but apparently not if she's available to do this manga too.

Pretty sure Force's hiatus is because EVERYONE HATES IT.

I imagine it will just quietly get canceled while on Hiatus.

Speak for yourself. As far as I know the volume sales were decent.

Force is a lot better than Vivid. Vivid is enjoyable fluff, sure, but Force was actually interested in telling a story and trying different things. But I guess this fandom doesn't want that, they want just another retread of season 1, apparently.

I guess it was too much to hope the announcement would be an anime...

Season two, rather. Season one is incredibly divisive, but there's not a Nanoha fan alive who doesn't love A's.

Why the hell are they doing another manga?
That's the 4th one currently ongoing I think for the sake of a bad word.

The fandom presumably wants more anime.

And no, no one likes Force. If you like Force, then you don't even understand what Nanoha's supposed to goddamn be about. Force is a terrible, terrible Nanoha manga.

Vivid's marginally better, but mostly dull.

The best currently running Nanoha manga, but a stupidly huge margin, is Innocent.

Yeah unfortunately...maybe someday in the future. Well, there will still be a new film to look forward to. As for this manga, I have mixed feelings about it tbh.

How do you figure? Force isn't that much different from A's or StrikerS.

Anyways, people shouldn't have been expecting a new anime in the first place. There's already a movie on the way and that eats up a lot of budget.

You really found Force story interesting?
It was a trainwreck of ideas which really didn't click well together.
Different things?
spoiler[Boring male MC who turns from emo into moralfag talking, anti-magical enemies who no one cares about due to very poor exposition of them in the manga, cool designs pages from better artist in actual manga are more as a poor joke. We also get some edgy deaths and stabbing moments which make me more laugh than treat it as some serious story points.
And Force can't be compared to A's, more like to StrikerS, you can't really compare Hayate with Wolkies to Curren and Hucks.]

But mostly I blame Tsuzuki for not knowing himself what to do with Force manga story and Higa as a very bad artist whose actions scenes and some characters designs were truly a tragedy for such a manga.

And I don't think Nanoha fans really want another 3rd retelling of original first season(tv season, movie 1st, movie 1st manga before), it more looks that people behind Nanoha franchise want to bring more new readers with the MG theme of original work which due to Madoka became really popular recently, and if you will compare Vivid and Force manga sales as 4th season leading this franchise, Force sold noticably worse, so it lost Nanoha fans compared to Vivid.
No one really cares about main trio of young characters leading this Force manga anyway judging by doujins in Japan compared how popular Vivid girls are. Tsuzuki has his DD with male MC to do anyway.

Well, it's not exactly surprising he's looking for cliches that the broadest audience wants. That's mostly the thing he cares for most, so he tried his way with the male MC too. Even StrikerS thought that they'll turn away from the loli aspect of the series and try to target a broader audience.

Thoma only had one stint of emoness, and that's when he thought he was a killing machine who puts everyone in danger. Which he was, so it's justified. It's no worse than Fate being all emo in season 1. And afterwards he's no different from Nanoha or the others in his attempts to befriend his foes.

The new weapons are prototypes so of course they have issues right out of the gate. This is actually a realistic portrayal of this.

The amount of violence certainly did escalate, but that's what happens when you deal with big league criminals. The other seasons weren't without their violent moments.

And yes, you can compare the Hucks to the Wolkenritter. Both are groups of quirky enemies doing bad things for understandable goals. The Hucks are just ensuring their own survival and are trying to take down Vandein as well. It's just in the Huckebein's case they're far less repentant of their actions, which is one of those differences that puts an interesting spin on things. We're using to seeing Nanoha and the gang eventually get through to and convert their enemies, but how's that going to work when said enemies are completely not interested in redemption?

Force has problems, sure, but the art is not one of them. Yukari Higa is a good artist and her characters have this natural cuteness to them. Compare that with Vivid's art, which tries way too hard to make it's characters look super cutesy with their huge eyes and overblown expressions.

Though that's a lot of the reason Vivid sold better too. Vivid has a ton more fanservice than Force, and even more gets added to the tank version. It's really no surprised why people snap up those Vivid volumes (not to mention each store has custom covers so factor in those people who buy multiple copies to get them all). Just because Force didn't sell as well as Vivid, doesn't mean Force sold poorly. If it had, it'd probably would have been cancelled long before this, and likely wouldn't have gotten the full colours treatment either.

I'd posit that having a male lead in a Nanoha story might, perhaps, not have been the smartest idea ever.

That depends. From an objective storytelling stand point, obviously there's nothing wrong with having a male lead. In fact, having a male lead in a magical girl franchise is a bold move.

If you're one of those Nanoha fans that are all "NO! A PENIS IS RUINING MY YURI PARADISE!!!" then yeah, it certainly won't go over well. Even though Thoma doesn't do anything to spoil that particular aspect (heck, his relationship with Lily is even shown to be completely platonic).

It just seems pointless.

Granted he'd still be a terrible character as a girl.
