Shina Dark manga artist draws Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha the 1st

The January 2014 issue of Kadokawa's Comp Ace magazine announced on Tuesday that Yukari Higa (Shina Dark - Kuroki Tsuki no Ō to Sōheki no Tsuki no Himegimi, Mahō Senki Lyrical Nanoha Force, Kiddy Girl-and Pure) will launch the Original Chronicle Mahō Shōjo Lyrical Nanoha The 1st manga series. Higa's manga of Masaki Tsuzuki's story will debut in the January issue of Nyantype magazine with an expanded 40-page chapter on Saturday.

The 2004 television series Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha followed Nanoha Takamachi, an ordinary third-grade girl who becomes a magical girl in search of Jewel Seeds from another world, and Fate Testarossa, another magical girl competing for the Jewel Seeds. The series inspired the 2010 film Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha The MOVIE 1st, a "new parallel history" version of the story. The film in turn inspired Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha Movie 1st The Comics, Kôji Hasegawa's 2010 manga adaptation of the story.

Higa launched the Mahō Senki Lyrical Nanoha Force manga series in the same Nyantype magazine in 2009, but it has been on an extended hiatus since earlier this year. Seven Seas licensed Higa's Zero's Familiar: Chevalier manga for North America.

The spinoff manga Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha ViVid LIFE -Inter Middle- by Neko Tōfu and Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha Material Musume -Innocent- by Sōjūrō Sakaki debuted in Kadokawa Shoten's Comp Ace magazine in April. A new Lyrical Nanoha film, Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha The Movie 3rd: Reflection, is also in the works.
