Inui looks like she could be a Nihon Ken* (I'm guessing specifically an Akita or Hokkaido). This is the term used to apply to the 6 native spitz breeds. The largest is the Akita Inu and is also the most famous because of Hachiko while the smallest is the Shiba Inu which is also the most popular dog in Japan.
The Nihon Ken Forum thread, "Size of the Nihon Ken shika class" (started by med), posters were saying that based on books they've read, the size order of #2-5 are as follows: Kishu/Shikoku then Hokkaido/Kai. *Here, ken (it can also mean "sword" or "heart", depending on the symbol) is the plural for "dog". |
