Has Rum even appeared in the manga?
I just read til volume 86, though, and still only speculations on his appearances.

I don't think they'll show Rum before his/her appearance in the manga. Only voice or a sillhouette (by considering Gosho's suggestion) would be just as far as it can do.

I'll be disapointed if he/she appeared in the movie first.

ps: hopefully Vodka would be more useful in this one, lol.

Edit: now that I noticed that the movie is planned for April 2016 release, I suppose there's a possibility that Rum's identity would've been revealed in the manga prior to the movie release date.

Man, this reminds me that I'm so far behind the manga. Sad
I'm not even at volume 20 yet...

Meh. The Conan movies with the Black Organisation are always sorta boring and completely inconsequential. The BO plot is just blue balling of the audience all year long.

I think it'll keep running until almost everyone within the production committee has snapped. Because I get the feeling they don't wan to end it in fear of ending it badly.

Why is this series still going on for so long?! Just finish the plot with the Black Organization and have Conan return to his normal age again already and move on!

This series is just the definition of beating a dead horse by this point. With this and One Piece, which one will finish first?

Because it is still popular and profitable.
I do not know how the merchandise is selling but the anime and manga both seem to be doing very well.

Having said that I must admit that I sort of lost my enthusiasm for the manga and have not gotten past volume 48 yet. But I do plan to continue it since Viz is still publishing it.

I would still be watching the anime if Funimation had not dropped it.

Anime wise, Conan will probably follow the Doraemon route.

The mystery in the movie will be solved with heavy use of smart phones.

Seeing as the movies are never canon material, it's funny how they're making it seem like an end all game (then again, I stopped at 14 so I have seen the third one containing Black Org).

This clearly confirms to me that the identity of Rum will be revealed in the manga before the movie's release.

As part of 20th anniversary series of events, I wonder if this movie will actually be considered canon for the series.

Perhaps, while the manga is not as high selling as it once was, people need to realise that in the context of the whole manga market with hundreds of releases, Detective Conan still is right up there usually in the top 10 at least, way more popular than HnI which has been going for over 100 volumes now.

Gosho Aoyama can end the manga whenever he wants to.

As one of the most popular anime out there, and one that can gain high ratings in a family friendly/prime timeslot there is no way the anime will end before the manga, and when the conclusion is nearing in the manga, I would expect a large bloc of filler episodes, to delay the ending of the series.

There is also a reason, Detective Conan gets a new anime movie, practically every year, because they kill at the Japanese box office.

Edogawa Conan is a popular cultural icon and Detective Conan a staple manga in Japan. These type of series, just don't end or completely drop off in popularity, they just endure until the creator decides to end.

Kir? We haven't seen her in a million years. I hope that means Eisuke Hondou will come back too. Haven't seen him in two million years.
