You had me sold on the fact this was a fourth J9 series, but to bring back classic musicians!? Ladies and gents we are about to witness what might become the best anime of next year! Will Jinraiger transform? What gangs will this new J9 team fight against? Will it be anywhere near as cool? Will we have a villain near as lovably disgusting as Khamen Khamen? Will the Mark of the Wolf return? Will there be nods to the classics? How far in the future will this be? Will the original trilogy be licensed by munchy crunchy rolling, Hulu, or mation of the funny variety? We are talking about a big classic revival! If other classics like ROCK SHIN GATTAI GODDO MARZU can get a Hulu release I imagine the original space western anime could do so; Braiger was essentially proto-Cowboy Bebop! So much so I dare say Sunrise copied Braiger to create CB. Smile

This is by miles, the worst character design i've ever seen. So bad I think an immature 5 years old has drawn it.

What they're bringing back the J9 Saga? This was like one of the coolest things I've seen all year. Shocked They even brought back MIO to give it authenticity.

Sadly, Enoki Films, who owns the rights to the original J9 Series, doesn't seem to really take advantage of streaming to promote its catalog. Aside from a few shows on sites like Gong, like Gun Frontier or Izumo, Enoki's catalog simply stays dormant, even though the company has a number of really cool shows. I'd love to see titles like the J9 Series, Acrobunch, Jibku-kun, & Captain Tsubasa on services like CrunchyRoll or Hulu, because we all know that no company dealing in physical media will ever work with Enoki again unless they absolutely have no choice but to (like Nozomi likely had to for Utena).

As for Jinraiger, I'm glad to see that it's still in pre-production. The OP & ED sound awesome, though I'm surprised that the OP is nothing like the old J9 themes. All of the prior openings were high-energy & upbeat, while Jinraiger has a very slow & even somber sound to it. Still, hoping it actually goes into real production soon, because I really do want to see it. I wonder if they'll even keep the old habit of re-using the same actors for the main four, utilizing the re-castings that the Super Robot Wars series did for those who have since passed away (i.e. Takumi Yamazaki & Ryotaro Okiayu in place of Kaneto Shiozawa & Kazuyuki Sogabe, respectively).

WHAT-TOOK-THEM SO LONG?!

I was wondering. I was watching the twitter account months back, waiting for some kind of info, and I caught that MIQ (FUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!) was singing a theme.

Wait..Jinraiger? Is it Jin-Liger? Laughing Holy cow. I wasn't expecting to look so...organic? Ah well.

No, it's Jinraiger, as in "jinrai/thunderclap". The OP's lyrics specifically use the "jinrai" kanji.

I think the general idea is that Enoki Films makes it tougher to get things cleared, since Enoki becomes more of a middleman than anything. The company had some attention in the early-to-mid 00s, but releases either ranged wildly in quality (from really good shows like Gokudo to hard-to-watch dreck like Babel II -Beyond Infinity-) or were censored due to Enoki not wanting to give uncut masters (Demon Lord Dante, in particular). Considering how the only Enoki titles we've since seen on DVD are only super-notable titles (i.e. Slayers & Utena), I'm going to guess that no one really likes to work with Enoki.

Shame, too, because there are some hidden gems in that catalog.

*twitches*

This statement made me rage and depressed simultaneously. Hard. Primarily because that is how I watched DLD. No wonder TVTropes propaganda humans hated that series, they cut things out! Especially the adaption of the work that got Go Nagai into the kaiju genre including the creation of anime icons like Devilman, Mazinger, and Getter Robo! I know the idea of God being an alien invader would disturb people, but come on! Can we start a letter writing campaign asking them to sell the licenses they don't use to DiscoTek? I may actually watch Jinraiger on whatever official stream source it comes out on just to show these people there is an audience they should be exploiting! Also

>censoring home releases of anything in the 21st century

Why?
