Shinya Kawamo directs anime of Atto's slice-of-life comedy manga

The August issue of Media Factory's Comic Alive magazine is announcing on Thursday the main cast for the anime adaptation of Atto's schoolgirl manga Non Non Biyori:

Rie Murakawa (Vividred Operation, Fairy Tail) plays Hotaru Ichijō, a fifth grader who transferred to her school from Tokyo. Her mature looks surpass her age; she has even been handed omiai photos by the older women in the neighborhood (who are looking to arrange marriages for their male relatives).
Kotori Koiwai (Joshiraku, The Severing Crime Edge) plays Renge Miyauchi, the youngest first grader at Asahioka Branch School. A girl with a loner personality, she often says things that others around her don't understand and ends her sentences with "non." Her cat's name is Gu.
Ayane Sakura (Joshiraku, Pretty Rhythm Dear My Future) plays Natsumi Koshigaya, a middle school first-year student with a bright personality who sets the mood in her class. She loves playing pranks, and even makes holes in her house's walls.
Kana Asumi (Nyarko-san: Another Crawling Chaos, Pretty Rhythm Dear My Future) plays Komari Koshigaya, a middle school second-year student who is Natsumi's sister and the oldest student in the school. She's bothered by the fact that her height hasn't passed the 140-centimenter (about four-foot, nine-inch) mark.

The magazine is also announcing that Shinya Kawamo is directing the anime.

The slice-of-life comedy is set in a countryside school with only five students total. The nearest bookstore is 20 minutes away by bicycle, a certain "Ju_p" magazine comes out on Wednesdays instead of Mondays, and the video rental store is 10 stations away. Fifth-grade schoolgirl Hotaru Ichijō transfers from Tokyo to this school and readjusts to the slow life in the country. Her fellow schoolmates are Natsumi, Komari, Renge, and Komari's big brother Suguru in the third year of middle school.

Atto launched the manga in Media Factory's Monthly Comic Alive magazine in 2009, and Media Factory published the manga's fifth volume in February.
