New Calbee Chip Flavor Would Delight Umaru-chan

Japanese snack foods maker Calbee has unveiled a unique new potato chip flavor: Coke. The flavor is the result of a collaboration with Namco, and will be available exclusively at Namco's arcades and NAMJATOWN, its theme park in Ikebukuro, Tokyo. Namco wanted a chip flavor that "surprised" its customers but was "filled with a playful spirit."
Judging by the reactions of these taste-testers on Tokyo's streets, it seems that Namco and Calbee have succeeded. The video claims that 96% of their tasters approved of the combination.
The packages will also contain a tricky puzzle to solve.
Anime fans have been amused by the announcement because potato chips and Coke are the two favorite snacks of Umaru, the main character in Himouto! Umaruchan. The Coke chips will be available in arcades beginning on December 18. Previous unusual Japanese potato chip flavors have included curry (also by Calbee) and rose-scented vinegar (courtesy of Koike-ya).
