Love Live! Film Tops Evangelion: 1.0 Ticket Sales in S. Korea

Film has sold 86,400 tickets since S. Korean opening on September 3

The Love Live! The School Idol Movie anime film has sold 86,400 tickets in South Korea as of October 13, making it the anime film with the highest amount of tickets sold in the country. The film topped the previous record holder, Evangelion: 1.0 You Are [Not] Alone, which sold 76,397 tickets. Love Live! The School Idol Movie opened in South Korea on September 3.

The film premiered in Japan on June 13, and earned 400 million yen (about US$3.24 million) on 121 screens in its first two days. The film eventually earned more than 2.60 billion yen (US$21.7 million) in Japan as of October 5, 107 days after the film opened at the box-office, surpassing the 2.08 billion yen (US$17.7 million) box-office earnings of the Puella Magi Madoka Magica The Movie Part 3: Rebellion film, and the 2.28 billion yen (US$18.2 million) gross of the Eiga Crayon Shin-chan: Ora no Hikkoshi Monogatari ~Saboten Daishūgeki film. The film ranked fifth highest in earnings from films released by Shochiku since 2000.

The film premiered in select cities in the United States on September 12. The film has also screened in Australia, New Zealand, Taiwan, Hong Kong, South Korea, Thailand, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Vietnam, and Brunei, and will screen in Indonesia on Wednesday.
