Three Leaves, Three Colors/Sansha Sanyō BDs/DVDs to Add 3 Unaired Episodes

posted on by Egan Loo
12 TV episodes listed on six Blu-ray/DVD volumes, which start shipping on June 29

The television anime of Cherry Arai's Sansha Sanyō (Three Leaves, Three Colors) manga premiered on Sunday, and a television commercial for the anime's Japanese home video release aired during the premiere. The ad reveals that the first Blu-ray Disc/DVD volume will ship on June 29, and the volume will include the first of three unaired original video anime (OVA) episodes as a bonus extra.

The commercial reports that the first unaired OVA episode is titled "Kinoko wa Karada ni Iinda yo!" The anime's official website reports the second volume will include the second unaired OVA episode, "Kōkyū Wagyū Shishokukai," on July 13. The third volume will include the third OVA episode, "Dekiru Onna wa Mebunryō," on August 17.

The anime's official website adds that there will be six monthly home video volumes from June 29 to November 16, and each volume will contain two television episodes for a total of 12. Each volume will also have a video collection of the original four-panel manga's strips (with voices added) and a video installment from the tie-in Niconico Live program.

The limited first edition of the first volume will add a sleeve case illustrated by the character designer Jun Yamazaki, a deluxe collection of support art, and a collection of messages from the staff and cast.

The anime's official website is also streaming the credit-less versions of the animated footage for the opening theme ("Clover Kakume-tion") and ending theme ("Gūchoki Parade") songs:

The longer audio-only previews of both songs are available. The opening theme and ending theme's CD singles will both debut on April 20. Two character song CDs will then ship on May 18, followed by two more on June 15.

Funimation is planning to stream an English-subtitled version of each television episode within days of its airing in Japan, followed by an English "Broadcast Dub" four to five weeks later.

Funimation describes the story:

Futaba Odagiri [voiced by Mai Kanazawa] is the energetic transfer student who befriends Teru Hayama (Ayaka Imamura), the class president who is meaner than she looks, and Yōko Nishikawa (Yū Wakui), a former rich girl who still acts like a princess. Three very different girls who only share one thing: the kanji for leaf in their names. Balancing school and life is hard enough, but what about dealing with clashing personalities on top of it all?

Yasuhiro Kimura (Cute High Earth Defense Club LOVE!episode director) is directing the series at animation studio Doga Kobo. Hideaki Koyasu (Lance N' Masques, GJ Club) is handling series composition and Jun Yamazaki (episode animation director for Senran Kagura: Ninja Flash!, Muromi-san) is designing the characters.
