Irregular at Magic High School: Plan to Assassinate Tatsuya Shiba Light Novels Get Manga

The Toda Books bookstore chain posted a picture on Twitter on Saturday of the second volume of author Tsutomu Satou and illustrator Kana Ishida's The Irregular at Magic High School: Plan to Assassinate Tatsuya Shiba (Mahōka Kōkō no Rettōsei: Shiba Tatsuya Ansatsu Keikaku) spinoff novel series, which reveals that the novels are getting a manga adaptation. The second novel volume shipped on Saturday.

Yuyu Ichino will draw the manga, which will run in Kadokawa's Monthly Comic Alive magazine.

Satou began publishing chapters of the spinoff novels online on August 10. Kadokawa published the first novel volume on October 10.

The novels feature a new heroine named Yuki Hashibami, a magician assassin who is not a magician herself. She challenges Tatsuya in the story.

Satou launched the original light novel series with illustrations by Kana Ishida (Aquarion Evol character designs) in 2008, and the 27th volume shipped on November 10. The story is heading toward its climax.

The series has inspired multiple manga adaptations for its various arcs, as well as several spinoff manga. Yen Press licensed the original The Irregular at Magic High School light novel series and Yu Mori's spinoff manga The Honor Student at Magic High School, which is ongoing in Monthly Comic Dengeki Daioh.

The novel series inspired a 26-episode television anime adaptation that debuted in April 2014, directed by Manabu Ono at Madhouse. Aniplex of America licensed the anime and released it on home video in 2015. The novels have also inspired the The irregular at magic high school The Movie: The Girl Who Summons the Stars anime film, which opened in Japan in June 2017. Aniplex of America screened the film in theaters in the United States, and released the film on home video on July 10.
