Anime season began streaming for Ultra subscribers on Friday

Hong Kong content distributor MediaLink Entertainment Limited's Ani-One YouTube channel began streaming Overlord III, the third television anime season based on Kugane Maruyama's Overlord novels, for Ultra subscribers on Friday.

Alongside Hong Kong and India, the anime is streaming in Bangladesh, Bhutan, Brunei, Cambodia, Fiji, Guam, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Laos, Macau, Malaysia, Maldives, Marshall Islands, Mauritius, Micronesia, Mongolia, Myanmar, Nauru, Nepal, New Caledonia, Northern Mariana Island, Pakistan, Palau, Papua New Guinea, the Philippines, Samoa, Seychelles, Singapore, Solomon Islands, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Timor-Leste, Thailand, Tonga, Vanuatu, and Vietnam.

The anime premiered in July 2018 and has 13 episodes.

Madhouse returned from the first two seasons to animate the latest season. MYTH&ROID also returned to perform the opening theme song "VORACITY," and OxT returned to perform the ending theme song "Silent Solitude."

The first 13-episode Overlord television anime series premiered in Japan in July 2015, and then the second 13-episode series premiered in January 2018. The first season also inspired two compilation films that opened in Japan in February and March 2018. The films added new scenes, and original character designer (and original novel illustrator) so-bin drew rough drafts for new characters.

The franchise is inspiring a fourth television anime season and a brand-new anime film project.

The novels and anime's story takes place in the year 2138 when virtual reality gaming is booming. Yggdrasil, a popular online game, is quietly shut down one day. However, the protagonist Momonga decides to not log out. Momonga is then transformed into the image of a skeleton as "the most powerful wizard." The world continues to change, with non-player characters (NPCs) beginning to feel emotion. Having no parents, friends, or place in society, this ordinary young man Momonga then strives to take over the new world the game has become.

Maruyama began the original light novel series online in 2010, and Kadokawa's Enterbrain imprint then began publishing it in print with illustrations by so-bin in 2012.

The anime inspired an RPG-Maker game for Windows, Mac, and web browsers.
